Recently tried adding 3 month old chicks to flock thought the other 5 hens would be fine with the new chicks, but chicks got injured and heard about beak clipping and wondering the best tool(toenail clippers, dog clippers or dremel) and how to prevent further damage to the new chicks. Would like...
Two 12 week old Salmon Faverolle chicks. Know one is a hen; second chick has been hard for me to determine, but seems like a rooster because of more prominent waddles
I have 2 roosters and 4 hens in a 10 ft x 10 ft fencing which has a coop. On top of fencing I have chicken wire to keep predators out. The 2 roosters are Faverolle and my 4 hens are Faverolle, Production Red, Blue Andalusian and a Barred Rock. Roosters were getting along alright until recently...
I know it is common for roosters to fight, but yesterday was the first time I really seen my two roosters Paul and Hei Hei really fighting each other. I have decided to separate them for the time being also plan to buy Pick-No-More at Tractor Supply to treat thier combs, but one of my friends...
I lost one of my hens to a Raccoon one year and my rooster got injured, but he is doing fine. Somehow one of my hens survived. I can only guess the peck-no-more kept the raccoon from attacking one of my hens, but unsure how my rooster survived. Didnt put peck-no-more on my rooster. My chickens...
Saw one of my hens stretching its neck and opening its beck wide open. Unsure what type of worms, but know they can get Roundworms, Tapeworms, Threadworms, Gapeworms, Cecal worms and Eyeworms, so would like something that is broad-spectrum. Is it true I would have to treat my chickens twice a...
Yeah, I knew they were older than 21 days old and pretty sure they were older than 23 days old. Didn't get to mark them probably should have done that, but already discarded the last two eggs. Also didn't want the eggs to explode. I have dealt with those during Spring of this year very smelly...
Had a hen get broody over 3 weeks ago setting on 12 eggs removed 4 eggs b/c those didn't candle well. Had 1 egg hatch this past Thursday. No other eggs have hatched and down to two eggs that I thought might hatch, but haven't, so assume have to throw those eggs out soon.
I love Faverolle. They are gentle, docile chickens. I have had a couple breeds. Leghorns when I was little. Now have had Faverolle, Ameraucana, Marans, Blue Andalusian and a Production Red, but favorite is still the Faverolle breed.
