I have 20 hens and one rooster, 5 of these hens being dwarves in the RUN, I have 21 chicks, about 6 of them being the size of my dwarves in the HEN HOUSE. The house is in the run, but it does have a closing door. As of now, I only have about 6 that are big enough to introduce to the flock.
I am newly establishing my flock, so I have yet to hatch any of my own, so I am getting ready to introduce my chicks to my 20 mature hens and one rooster. What is the best approach to this? I thought I’d just sit in the run for awhile and see how it goes and if it goes well, then I’d leave them...
I shared some photos of the chicks in another reply. They are all babies and I believe my breeder here developed the cross, I’m not quite sure, I’d be happy to ask her what the mix is
The one rooster was merely by accident, I may possibly end up with another in the mix that I have. I do believe my Goldens and Silvers are a hybrid from my gal here that does breeding. They are all chicks as of now but I’d be happy to share some photos!
hi all! Jaime here from a small town on the Oregon Coast. Very new to the #farmlife. I’m a vegetarian farmer!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We have had a small number of chickens in the past. So not brand new to having chickens, but new to larger numbers
