    Introducing chicks to the new hens

    I have 20 hens and one rooster, 5 of these hens being dwarves in the RUN, I have 21 chicks, about 6 of them being the size of my dwarves in the HEN HOUSE. The house is in the run, but it does have a closing door. As of now, I only have about 6 that are big enough to introduce to the flock.

    I am newly establishing my flock, so I have yet to hatch any of my own, so I am getting ready to introduce my chicks to my 20 mature hens and one rooster. What is the best approach to this? I thought I’d just sit in the run for awhile and see how it goes and if it goes well, then I’d leave them...

    I shared some photos of the chicks in another reply. They are all babies and I believe my breeder here developed the cross, I’m not quite sure, I’d be happy to ask her what the mix is

    These are the Golden Starfish, Silver Mermaid and Barred Rock chicks. The Golden’s have the little “Mohawk”

    The one rooster was merely by accident, I may possibly end up with another in the mix that I have. I do believe my Goldens and Silvers are a hybrid from my gal here that does breeding. They are all chicks as of now but I’d be happy to share some photos!
