I went out to check on momma. One of the eggs has been smashed ( young rooster trying to breed momma). It is chirping, I have it a heat pad in a bowl. Do I need to keep water on the yolk? Olive oil?
hatch day is this Friday.
I just put as much as the dropper could hold without drowning the chick. We fed him about every 30 min at first then every hr and progressed from there. I would give him the nutri drench and swap up with water until he acted like he wanted no more!
I had one hatch out about a month ago with wry neck!
brought him inside with a heating pad, got some poultry nutri-drench mixed and fed him with a dropper and in a weeks time he was back out with momma!
it’s been 3 weeks and he barely shows any sign of wry neck!!

I have never don’t this for meat but just for egg production! I told my husband my New Years resolution is that I want to be able to slaughter the extra roosters we have! Lol

Whenever I get down there to let them out as well, could be 7am or 10 am. They have a big enough coop and if it’s raining or storming all day I keep them up. Also i have had a lot get eaten by red tail hawks so when I worked If I had one eaten I would keep them locked up until I got home at 3...
So I have done some research and I have kept “spaz” in the house since he hatched, seems to have wry neck, I have been giving him some nutri-drench. He’s walking how without flipping over! He can walk around some outside of his for short periods then he “star gazes” again.
