    6 weeks. Pullet or Cockerel

Thanks everyone. Our speckled Sussex is our sweetest and cuddliest! We will be super upset if we have to get rid of that one. We can’t have roosters where we live.

    Completely covered run?

This is what we are interested in building. Possibly minus some of the roof.

    Completely covered run?

Do chicken need access to direct sunlight or can their run be completely covered? We were going to leave 1/4 uncovered but now I am unsure with rain and snow if that would just be a mess in that area. Seems easier to just cover the whole thing!

    Mixing breeds

Can I mix breeds? I want 6 hens and it would be fun to have them all different breeds. Is this a bad idea? Or will they get along fine? Are there pros or cons to have same/different breeds? I’m interested in Easter Eggers, Speckled Sussex, Australorp, Barred Rock and Buff Orpington Thanks!

Will landscaping fabric hurt my chickens?

We have a large sand pit area and just removed the kids swingset to build a coop/run. We were planning on just building right on top of the sand.. I realized it has the weed fabric barrier about 4 inches under the sand. Will the chickens be able to scratch to that? Rip it up, eat it or injure...

    Playground removal for Chicken Coop/Run

This definitely crossed our minds! I just don’t think it will last as long as we’d like. So we are selling the set and using that money for new supplies!

    Playground removal for Chicken Coop/Run

I have this playground area. We are removing the play set and going to build a coop & run. Can I use this playground sand for the run or should we remove it? We don’t plan on using it in the coop itself. It is not super fine.. it does have smalls rocks and such in it. Obviously it would be...
