Lost my 4th girl in 2 days tonight...

If an animal is close enough to injure me I will kill it dead, go to the hospital and document my injury. I would then bury said animal without telling anyone. Hawks , I cover my pen, scare them off with blanks (I don't kill raptors), everything else is covered with a very hot wire dukes dog...

New Rooster Drama / Help Request

Thanks, No injury, and no aggression towards us. They all get along during the day and he was kept apart for a week. Now he only gets pushed off the roost, no real danger to him. You guys think feeding is better than handling to end up with a docile bird. I don't want a bird that I can't...

Some critter got 10 of my birds this week!

Indiana DNR site says you require a hunting license and to trap an additional licence. these are very cheap. If you don't live in downtown Indy or something call them up and ask if they care or enforce these laws in ag areas. In NC trapping, shooting, or otherwise killing predators killing...

Raccoon killed chickens - feed to dogs?

Save a few to use as bait in traps. Dukes dog proof, wire traps, and conibear (depending on where you and your neighbors are) are great for dealing with rocky the murdering raccoon. sorry to hear about that. And yes, I have fed dogs chicken, deer, etc as long as it was processed in a manner...

New Rooster Drama / Help Request

Hey Folks, Couple quick questions. We have 6 tame 2 year old hens , the kind that if you don't watch where you walk you will step on. Basically pets. We now have a new , young and nervous rooster. He isn't feral just isn't a "pet" yet. The fact the hens aren't "accepting" him yet (lots of...

    The coyotes are here again...

Electric fencing works. Quick internet search shows town zoning restrictions but no fire zone restrictions. They are in wide use in the west for grazing animals. USDA Wildlife Division will also trap and kill problem predators for you. Depending where you are in relation to city etc. Good luck.

    Chicken killing Fox!!!! HELP!!

A two wire system uses a hot wire (like normal fence setup) and then a second wire that is intentionally grounded (with a stake etc). You then run them far enough apart that whatever animal you are targeting can complete the circuit with its body. You do want to be sure that if you use tape...

    Getting Rid Of Black Ants

Permethrin is good, it's also FDA approved for human skin contact. I wouldn't bathe in it but it's well studied and regulated.

    Racoon ESCAPED my trap overnight?

It will never enter a cage trap again. Switch to Dukes dog proof, bait with fish scent (tuna juice), mini marshmellows, be sure you attach it to something solid. You will want the "setting" tool. These are not "release" traps, you shoot what is caught...

    Chicken killing Fox!!!! HELP!!

Hello. First post and this topic is one of interest. I have done the following legal in my area things to deal with foxes and predators. Harden my coop. Run a electric fence around my perimeter fence. I use switches to power down sections that I want off during the day (interior fence...
