So, I noticed today my chick is starting to get those gold/tan feathers on her chest and neck. Based on the threads you all sent me I am fairly certain I will know what she will look like as a hen. That basic EE color where the body is partridge like and the neck is gold/tan.

Green! Mint green to be exact smile ...and with her they are bit spotty
Wow! That's pretty unique. Just like the ice cream. I thought Welsummers were one of the few breeds that had spotted eggs. Maybe she's part Welsummer? Not a common breed, so I doubt it. Very cool eggs...
How can one really determine the difference between a hatchery and a breeder. Just size and scale? Doesn't the hatchery first have to get them from a breeder? I'm sure I'm stepping into next thread territory here, but it just got me thinking.
I made a mistake in that post. I meant to say "I hope that they are in fact girls of the correct breed." I have more doubt than now than I expected to have.
Mother--oh, man! That is all not good. I also got a cuckoo maran with my "ameraucana" and they are in fact girls of the correct breed. How did you figure out your maran was a Dominique? AND, yes! I'd still love to see your photos. I'm a visual learner.
Moxie-that is a super link! Thanks. Tons to sift through here and hours of research.
Mother--do you have pictures you can post? I would be interested to see what your chicks look like as they've grown up. How old are they now? As far as UFS is concerned, they should really be more explicit and...
Here's what ours did. She has similar markings.

AND, what color eggs does she lay?
This is all very informative and a bit of a disappointment as I had my heart set on the silver ameraucana. The farm store I got them from has such a good reputation I guess I assumed they'd be true breeds. I hope as an EEs she will still lay reasonably blue or green eggs then?! Here is a...
2 week old ameraucana from Urban Farm Store. Looking at breed club website it should be a silver, but not sure based on brown coloring coming in. Any ideas what she might look like as a hen from your own experience?
Still guessing pullet or roo with these two chicks (1 SLW and 1 PPR @ 7.5 weeks old). My first post, at about 5 weeks old, yielded almost evenly mixed results for girl vs. boy.
My hunch changes almost daily. Do you have a good guess?

Actually, I guess they are wearing a Bowler (not a top hat) to be more correct. They also enjoyed the scene I painted them, because it made them feel like gentlemen of the early 1800's enjoying a country setting.:frow
My 7 week old PPR is acting strange. She is shaking her head a lot--especially when you talk to her. Her comb looks darker (blackish) than it should and she had has greenish/yellow diarrhea every once in awhile. I've been vigilant about cleaning her coop and offer dust bathing in a sand/soil...
This is a great start--thank you! I think I came across a few of your pics in the past as I recognized the last photo. Love your blog!
It is also very helpful to see a PPR rooster at 4 weeks. The comb is so large and distinctive. Not like my bird...
