Just wanted to share a pic of this lovely girl.
We got her a couple of months ago from a lady who was going travelling.
No idea really what breed she is or crossed with but she sure is a beautiful looking lady.
She’s just come back into feather after moulting so we should be getting eggs soon...
so it’s autumn here in Australia and most of my girls have been off the lay for a little while due to moulting.
I was getting desperate for eggs so I actually bought andz from Aldi last night .
Today we got 8 eggs including 1 from our new red splash Araucana “Quinny”.
Maybe they thought they...
Everyone meet “Quinny” (today is the autumn equinox in Australia).
She’s a red splash Araucana and she’s the newest member of our little flock.
She currently in quarantine for the next 30 days but after that she will join our Buff Orpington rooster and his ladies.
just wanted to share a pic of one of my 10yr old daughter’s baby Belgian Duccle.
Looks like a little pullet.
This is her first year hatching eggs from her little trio.
She’s had a great season and sold off 5 chicks a few weeks back.
There’s more eggs in the incubator and the little hens are...
I’m lucky enough to be picking up an Arucana hen tomorrow from a lady who is sick of her broodiness.
Apparently she lays 6 eggs then goes broody
I already have egg layers so a broody would come in handy.
My question is:
How do I go about moving her and setting some eggs under her?
I’ve never...
Yay!!!! Hitting a home run with my ladies this season.
We’ve got a little Belgian in the brooder, 4 red layer x BO that are all girls, my 2 turkeys are hens and now all 3 of my buffs are pullets :wee
I thought they might have been but I’ve heard that they are hard to sex so wasn’t sure.
I have a lovely buff rooster from another line to breed with them next spring.
me again, I’m racking up the posts this week
I hatched these buff Orpingtons and now that they are 15 weeks old I was wondering if they are male or female?
as Australia turns to autumn I’m thinking ahead the the spring.
I’ll have a quad of buff Orpingtons and maybe some other breeds that I want to separate to breed.
Can I see everyone’s breeding coops please?
Sorry I meant to add the black one was a cross but I was trying to figure out what she might be crossed with.
The others are supposed to be purebred although backyard quality
The black one is a cross.
I’ve bred Australorps in the past and have buff orps now and she’s def not one.
She said something about welsumer and barnevelder
Thanks for your help guys.
You’ve made myself, my kids and especially my husband very happy.
We thought his “babies” might both have been males in which case either “gobble” or “bobble” would have to go
hi all, I got these girls yesterday and I’m told they are purebreds but the elderly lady couldn’t remember the breeds.
Her sister used to breed them and bring them to the farm once they had grown.
They are currently in quarantine and being treated for scaly leg mite.
