Losing feathers, white powdery face and dull comb

Hello (again) chicken friends! I have a chicken who I've had for over a year, she has always been subdued and a little shy compared to the rest, but doesn't get picked on and is part of the team (I have five chickens all together). I think she's third in the pecking order. She's never been a...

Sinister looking white growth on wattle under beak

Thank you for all your help :) I’ll try that, It’s hard but inside her beak is fine. Doesn’t seem to bother her, still eating a tonne and not panting or anything!

Sinister looking white growth on wattle under beak

hello fellow chicken lovers :) it’s been a while since I posted. My flock has been fantastic, although laying has been inconsistent because of extreme heat here in Aus. I noticed today after popping the girls back in their coop that one of my chooks has a big white growth on its wattle! I can’t...

New flock | one chicken not moving, eating or drinking

Haha I am the exact same, and when I go to work I call my partner every hour or so to make him check too! She is eating and drinking and now laying (finally) so I think she is just a bit slower. She's the biggest in the flock though - she's enormous! Strange haha

    my chicken sounds hoarse

My hen has the same, she's just naturally croaky. Is he sneezing or coughing? Or just a husky noise?

    Aggressive, Canibal Chicken, Please Help

Do they all eat from the same place - or do you have multiple pellet / feed stations. And are your nesting boxes close together? Maybe she's aggressive because she's territorial and not familiar with the new chickens... I did have a chuckle at the serial killer bit. lol.

New flock | one chicken not moving, eating or drinking

She is so much better now. I gave her some calcium and give her an abdomen massage and she laid a HUGE egg. Thank you for everyone's help!

    Rats!!!

I do too, I feel your pain! Be careful with poison. Poison makes the rats leave their nest to seek water, and if you have water in your chicken coop they will literally gnaw their way in to get it. If they die in your chicken run / coop, and your chickens are contaminated with poison - it will...

Thank you! She is very different to my other chickens. She is slower and not as tame. Maybe just her personality!

New flock | one chicken not moving, eating or drinking

Thank you! Yes I agree, she is now eating like a champion and all good. I am so attached to them already I would hate for her to be in pain! But seems like she is good now :)

New flock | one chicken not moving, eating or drinking

Thanks, I just checked her feet and they’re fine, but she does seem to be careful on them and holds one up a lot. She’s certainly more energetic today - but she was the last out of the roost and I had to check on her before she came out this morning. I can’t seem to hold her for long enough to...

New flock | one chicken not moving, eating or drinking

Thank you... you're right! No one understands! I feel like an anxious mom! It's actually midday here, I observed her behaviour at dawn this morning when I first let them out, for around 45 min she did nothing but my partner said she is now attempting to forage etc. She seems to perk up as the...

New flock | one chicken not moving, eating or drinking

Thanks again for your advice, really appreciate it. We have been getting eggs, not sure if it's from her or not... I will separate her from the flock tonight and see how she goes. I don't want to stress her out any more. I've never checked a chicken to see if they're egg bound but I've read a...

New flock | one chicken not moving, eating or drinking

Picked her up, she seems like she's a bit more lively now. She's moved out of the coop and is foraging around! Still much slower than others and keeps laying down. Perhaps she's broody already?
