    ADOR1 automatic chicken coop door

I’ve used this for about 6 months. It still works great. Battery not included. It takes a standard 6 volt lantern battery. These are cheap and last about a year. $150 shipping to lower 48 included. Save $70 over a new one. New retail price is $200 plus $20 for shipping.

We found an egg yesterday afternoon! It was in the area they have created for their dirt bath. Still warm. Mama right next to it. We’re so happy!

We had an interesting experience tonight. We walked over to the coop and watched as the ladies put themselves to bed. One of them who I call Lucy, because she talks a lot, went in much earlier than the rest. The dominant hen, Lacy, eventually got the rest together and into the coop. We think...

No, try to buy treated ones that have dried out from the preservation process. They will be lighter in weight.

I think the general rule of thumb is 1/3 below ground. The key to longevity is to eliminate water pooling around the post. This is usually found when the post is set in concrete. I usually will set the post in the hole and pack small gravel around the post. Pack it tightly by adding a few...

Well thank you!. I would have taken them all (10 hens and a rooster) but thought I should start small. I’ve already gotten very attached to them.

That would be nice but right now I’d settle for them not running away from me! I did add a nesting box in the coop as the previous owners said they thought one of them was laying a few eggs a week.

Day 2 went pretty well. We decided to fence in the coop so that we wouldn’t have to constantly check on the flock throughout the day. They can move pretty quickly and I was afraid they would wander off. So, today I went to the local farmers co-op and bought a 100’ x 4’ roll of 2x4 welded...

We have all the predators here. Bears, coyotes, Fox, raccoons and possum. Hawks but no eagles. I’m trying the rattle can training. Nothing so far but will keep it up. Today was a good day although I had to herd them away from the neighbor’s fence a few times. Then a thunderstorm came up...

They seem very happy, they have already been around the garage at least once.

It's about half mile back to their previous residence. They were kept inside the coop/run and not allowed to roam at all. They seem quite happy here.

I went down early...pre-coffee even, how great a Dad am I...to check on my mini-flock. I peeked into the coop through one of the side vents and they were all up. I opened the pop door and they peeked out a bit. Gave them some feed to entice them to come out. It took awhile, but they all...

I went down to the coop tonight after dusk and my other neighbor was there getting the rooster and his 5 hens. He helped me get mine into some large boxes and I drove back up to my place and put them in the coop. They didn’t seem to know where the roost was, but I think after they settle down...
