Update: the vet said it was a mildly infected scab most likely from the other chick pecking her. They removed the lump cleaned it up and sent her home with antibiotics. They said she’ll be ok!
In another group I’m in people are saying it’s not a vaulted skull it’s most likely a tumor. Is it still possible she’ll live if it is? She still seems fine and healthy
So I got two silkie chicks a few weeks ago they are about a month old now and one of them started crowing a few days ago but unfortunately I can’t keep roosters where I live so I need him gone asap😞 I really want him to go to a good home where he will get all the love and snuggles he deserves- I...
Seems like it’s healing up pretty well, hopefully it will stay that way. I’m just not touching it and let it do it’s thing seems the only thing to do really as much as I want to help I think putting a bunch of stuff on it and bathing it will just make it worse at this point
She seems pretty normal otherwise maybe a little more mellow than her buddy (who turns out to be a rooster, so not sure if that has anything to do with him being more active and alert) but she’s eating and drinking fine preening her feathers scratching around etc
Ok it’s confirmed, I just witnessed chick #1 crowing a bunch of times in a row lol :hitmeans I gotta get rid of him cause I can’t have a rooster in my area
That’s what I’ve been thinking. One of them has been making little crowing sounds but I haven’t seen which one. But the first chick acts a lot more like a male I think also growing a lot faster than the other chick
Is it normal for it to get bloody while it’s growing? I separated her from the other chick and there is nothing in the enclosure for her to injure herself on, unless she just plain smacked her head into the side? It keeps healing and then reopening with blood :(
So I know it’s hard to tell with silkies when they are little, but is anyone able to identify whether they are hen or rooster? They’re both two weeks old
Personality wise the gray one seems generally more snuggly and chill the tan one likes snuggle but is also more skittish and energetic
Hi there, I got 2 silkie chicks two weeks ago and about a week ago one of them started showing a little bloody patch on it’s head (first pic) which quickly grew into a large lump (following pics). I’ve heard it’s normal for a silkie to have a lump on its head but I’m not sure if this is that...
