    Respiratory illness in chickens

UPDATE: Two remaining chicks are still alive but not sure for how long. The one that was rattling has cleared up after giving the Tetroxy but is acting weird - hunkering down in the corner of the coop. She also walks backwards (which isn't new but much worse) and acts like her feet hurt. She...

    First Time Raising Chickens

Hello all - I am excited to find this site where hopefully I can learn about raising chickens and how to care for them. I have not had the best luck so far so hopefully that will change. I started with 6 speckled sussex chicks of which only 2 have survived. Currently treating them for...

    Respiratory illness in chickens

I have been using the VetRx for a while now. I put it under their wings as well so they breathe it in when they tuck their heads at night. I will definitely get the Tylan to have on hand in case this other doesn't work. They are drinking so I know they're getting the Tetroxy. Sometimes I...

    Respiratory illness in chickens

I actually had read quite a bit about various respiratory illness including ILT. The weird thing is however, they do not have any of the other symptoms. No discharge from anywhere. Just the rattle in the one bird and other birds didn't even have that.

    Respiratory illness in chickens

    Respiratory illness in chickens

We did treat them for coccidiosis after the first two died at 8 wks. The others seemed fine for a while and then one became listless and one began wheezing. That is what is so confusing - different symptoms in different birds. I told the vet this and he felt the best thing now is the Tetroxy...

    Respiratory illness in chickens

Thanks for your reply. We lost 2 chicks when they were 8 wks. old. Others seemed fine up until 12 wks. and then we lost 2 more. Weird thing is that they did not all have the same symptoms. None have had any of the symptoms you listed. A couple were listless and just stopped...

    Respiratory illness in chickens

Hi all - new to the group. Hoping for some thoughts. Treating our 12 wk. old sussex hens with Tetroxy HCA 280 for respiratory illness. Vet prescribed. Wondering if others have experience with this and how fast or effective it is. We have lost 4 of six hens and have one more with rattly...
