Hello all! Eliza is doing fine and the scab is very close to coming off. With any luck it should come off this weekend!! She is taking the antibiotics well so everything is looking good. I have attached pictures from today’s bath.

Hello! No luck with her scab yet but another few baths and it may be off. With our recent revelations with Eliza, we decided to check our other two ducks for any signs of bumblefoot. Peggy was fine, she’s the smallest, but Angelica is showing signs of the early stages of bumblefoot. Once we’ve...
Hi! I’m not sure it might not be available in the UK. The vet has treated bumblefoot before and seemed pretty confident that the antibiotics would work. We are continuing to bathe her and the scab is starting to soften so we may be able to peel it off and remove the plug. No foot pics I’m afraid...
Hello!! Eliza is doing fine. Vet has put her on a course of antibiotics and has advised us to keep bathing her. Vet said that she didn’t want to do surgery as it would involve a General Anesthetic which don’t mix well with birds. We are going back next week to see if there has been any...
Hi Guys. Thanks for the advice. This was her foot after a bath in Epsom salts. The scab won’t come off. We’ve decided that taking her to the vets would be the safest option as none of us feel comfortable attempting the surgery. She’s going in later today so hopefully the problem should be...
Thank you, everyone, for the replies and advice. I will get back to you in the morning (for me!!) with some pictures. Hopefully, everything will run smoothly.
Ok, thank you!! We will try in the morning with a foot bath to see if we can get the scab off. We can use a scalpel if necessary I think? Will keep you updated. Thank you for all the advice!
Hi, thank you for the welcome. So are you saying that antibiotics aren't necessary and we can perform surgery without and her body should be able to fight off infection, providing we wrap the foot and keep her confined for a few days?
Hello and thank you for all the replies. I believe that time zones might be against me as I live in the UK and our girls are all away at the moment. Will 12 hours be a risk as we can only do it in the morning? As well as that, there are no over-the-counter antibiotics available over here, will...
Hello! First time posting so hope I'm doing things right.
We have had 3 Aylesbury ducks since their feathers started coming through. When they reached near full size, one of the biggest, named Eliza, began limping. We contacted the breeder and she thought that she had just pulled a muscle. We...
