    I used 2x3’s to frame out the brooder box and just paneling for the sides. The overall size is 2’x3’. And the bottoms is made from 1/4” plywood. The Base that it sets on is made of 2x4’s. So it’s actually two separate pieces. It will make it easier to move if I need to. Here are a couple...

    I will keep that in mind about the water. The spot you circled in red is a door I made for clean out. I will be able to just slide the door open and broom out the shavings directly into a waste basket. And Yes, we do plan to eat them as well.
