    Thanks for the info! I'll try and make it to those. August 8th is my birthday so maybe I could get a present for myself;). Is it like a dog show where the judges handle to birds individually and give them the award or do they just look into the cages and apply a ribbon?

    The Alameda County Fair is coming up toward the end of the month. I wonder if they'd have many types to see there. I'll have to check it out.

    I'm a total newb that has yet to do anything chicken-ish. I keep threatening my wife to get pullets and truly believe that day will come soon;) I'm glad to have found this site and hope to learn great things about chickens. Best, John
