Sorry I should’ve wrote it out. TSC stands for Tractor Supply Company, do you have one close to you? Other chick starters would probably work also, I use a ratite starter tag to compare
I’m sorry for your loss! It sounds like they ate pine shavings, were they mostly on them & food could've mixed in? Pine shavings can also cause splay leg easily so use caution with it. I put mine on carpet.
I have found that TSC’s chick starter is almost identical to ratite starter, protein is...
I had 2 surprise eggs hatch this time, never saw a wiggle or noise at all. They hatched day 58, I almost took them out since no signs of life & then there they were!
Wow I’ve missed quite a bit!! Twins, surprise whites, etc! I’m up to 10 chicks out of my batches with 6 more due any day. Had a lot of late deaths this time, many who made it full term to never pip.
I’m starting to wonder if my Dickey isn’t regulating temp evenly, I should’ve added a second...
I have the top of the egg marked so when I wiggle test i set them on a smooth flat surface & let them roll to the position it stops at. Seems to wake them up a bit. Like FishMtFarm said, once you see one wiggle you’ll know it. Eyes may play tricks on you at first but you can’t miss it when it’s...
33 days is the earliest I’ve seen them wiggle & I had a lot more time on my hands to stare them down than this time lol. So I’m not too upset i haven’t seen them move yet. If your eggs are fertile there’s a great chance there’s chicks plus you’ve got the absence of having them shipped on your side.
My first batch of 9 are on day 34, haven’t seen any movement but haven’t had the chance to check much. Weight loss is on track for the most part.
2nd batch of 14 are on day 31.
3rd batch of 4 on day 22
4th batch of 4 on day 16
5th batch of 4 on day 14
I’m really hoping I’ve got some chicks in...
I bought mine years ago & use it for my bulldogs & livestock, it’s been one of my favorite investments lol. Not sure how far along I should try it...hmm
My pediatric nor my cardiologist stethoscope would work when I used to try. I do have an ultrasound machine that I’m going to try out on these, not sure it’ll penetrate the shell but worth a shot. I couldn’t find any research on it online
They were those flexible animal balloon type & not real tightly inflated, my kids ran over them with their hoverboard multiple times trying to pop them to no avail lol. So if they’re being jumbled enough to pop I’d say the eggs are already scrambled :th
The balloons were just filled with air the eBay seller uses for packing protection. I have some eggs from her too & was super impressed with her packing abilities! I have 4 already from her with 4 more being delivered Monday. They’re my only shipped eggs out of 36 so fingers crossed they’ll do...
Glad you joined! I’m going through threads to find some modified styrofoam incubators for emu. Depending on the size I’ve seen up to 9 in them. Also a lot of people add mason jars full of water with the lid on to help regulate the temp...
Sorry to hear about your losses! I was talking to her on ebay when you hit "buy it now" on them lol, too funny! Well at least now I can see them be incubated, will you update on the 2019 Emu hatch a long? I have my fingers crossed for you :celebrate
