How High off the ground should you build your coop so the chickens can get shade under it? 18". 24"?

I live in North Carolina and plan to have 6 hens this spring. I am wanting to build a walk in coop that is raised. I live in the country and can have as many as I want. Don't laugh---I really only want 6---8 at the most. I appreciate this site and the information that is available.
