Nope, they are just messing around. They will make the sound, turn circles, and may even hop on a few hens but nothing will happen. 5 months is about when they can start reproducing but most will abandon or be unsuccessful parents until they're older (9-12 months).

Can't really hold doves. Pigeons, you can if you spend enough time and the key is PATIENCE AND FEED. As for which kind, it all depends. Fantails are really pretty and are super tame. Same with some of the larger breeds but I assume you want a smaller pigeon?
Thanks for all the advice. The difference in the price for my loft I'm planning to build between OSB and plywood is roughly $70. Gotta make my decision soon. Thanks for all the replies.
So I am going to build a coop and am on a tight budget. Can I get away with building a chicken coop using OSB without painting it? Winters here in Wisconsin are brutal but it doesn't rain much. WIll it hold for at least 5 years? Thanks ahead of time for those taking the time to reply
Hello there,
I am new to the forum and am looking to raise/keep a couple of pigeons just for fun. I used to have a pair of homers and a pair of Birmingham Rollers but that was 14 years ago in California. I now live in Wisconsin and don't know where to start. I don't want to spend a ton of money...
