    Ancona Duckling Colors (?)

Gotcha. These babies won’t be used for breeding. Just as pets and garden helpers :) Doctor literally has no markings and came from a blue egg!

    Ancona Duckling Colors (?)

 WOW COOL! I didn’t know they could be pure white! I think Pekins are so cute but I love the Ancona breed so now I feel like I lucked out and got the best of both worlds with my little guy/gal! Yippee! :wee To everyone else following- I’ll continue to post pictures as they grow! :love

    Ancona Duckling Colors (?)

I just noticed that thing 1 looks pretty dark in that photo but honestly s/he is the same shade as Thing 2 which is represented better in the last picture.

    Ancona Duckling Colors (?)

I hatched 3 precious Ancona ducklings over the weekend! First one named “Doctor” hatched on its own with the exception of my making a safety hole after internal pipping. I’m wondering what color doctor could be considering the s/he is ALL YELLOW AND PINK!!! Literally no markings whatsoever. And...

    Hands on hatching and help

Hey all! Sorry to be asking so much but I need some opinions... At this point it is day 32! Duck egg named “Doctor” hatched yesterday morning at 6:40am :celebrate But the other two still have not :barnie They are definitely alive- I chipped away all of the air cell on the one that was properly...

    Hands on hatching and help

For anyone whose following- I heard the 3rd egg (malpositioned on) tapping an peeping from inside of the egg. I ended up (very slowly) opening up the bruised part of the shell and I am SO GLAD that did because there was his/her little beak trying to bust through but the membrane was soo dry and...

Well I went ahead and broke open enough of the air cell to peek in there. I don’t see a beak at all near the air cell but I did see that the membrane was white and dried out but he is still alive in there! I moistened the membrane with coconut oil and a qtip and then taped up the hole and let...

    Hands on hatching and help

Okay I *thought* I heard a very faint peep once from that egg (“Doctor”) last night. Hopefully I wasn’t imagining things! But I can see he is still breathing, tapping and such... My worries now move onto the egg named “Thing 1” a bruise is starting to form on the egg towards the point end :(...

Ok I’m going to sit next to the incubator until I hear a peep gosh darn it! Not getting up until I do!

Is it concerning that it isn’t peeping at all yet after 24 hours of internal pip? Is that normal? I just feel like all I keep reading is about folks hearing peeps as soon as they are internally pipped so I’m a bit confused by this little one..
