    Hello everyone

We live at about 9700 feet in Park County, Colorado, have a solar home & solar coops. I love my feather footed chickens because they are more cold hardy. Just a little FYI, great luck with the flock. I agree, Cochins are awesome.

Major attack - is this a bear?

I live in the Colorado Rockies & my friends chickens were all killed by a bear but they were not all eaten. Everything up here is putting on fat for winter but I agree, whatever it was will return. Sorry that happened to you.

    OH Chicken Toes!

This is a body shot of her. You know, frostbite could have done it because I notice she does have a bit on her comb. I put vaseline on it. She was at the horse rescue I work with when I noticed she was hurt. She doesn’t appear to hurt. A breast sore...maybe. I can look at it tomorrow & see...

    Bad news from the vet

I have 2 Chihuahuas & one has a heart murmur. He's about 10 years old & I have him on the following meds from the Vet: Amiodipine 0.5 mL once daily, Banazepril 10 mg tab twice daily & Vetedin 1.25 mg twice daily. As with asthmatics, winter is harder on him but as long as he stays on these...

    OH Chicken Toes!

Ya know, I don't think she has mites. Doing soaks in Epson Salt & using Vetericyn plus. I think she was injured at the Rescue & then the others were pecking her badly which is why I brought her home.

    OH Chicken Toes!

Sorry it took so long for you guys to see! I have no idea about what is on her tummy. I thought it was because she was not able to raise her chest off the floor but it hasn't gone away or had any changes. Doing Epsom Salt foot soaks & spraying Vetericyn Plus wound spray on her foot. She has been...

    OH Chicken Toes!

I went in to see my RI Red this morning I noticed that she again was very crippled. I found that the toe I thought was growing back, fell off last night! She doesn't seem to be in any pain, however, I don't know what a chicken in pain looks like. Eats, poops & drinks well. Will her toe grow...

    New to BYC

Living in the middle of Colorado, Hartsel, is the life I have always yearned for. The scenery is magnificent, air clean & fresh & water; I truly believe that this is God's country. I've been debating a small flock of chickens for some time now & my neighbor has encouraged me to get involved! I...
