Was supposed to be a pullet but the curved saddle feathers are throwing me off. Does this look like a pullet or roo? It’s also kind of mean and pecks me every chance it gets lol
Hatched in early/mid January.
I swear I've just been stressing over one thing after another lately with everything that's going on. And while we were outside I found my kids sitting with a feather sticking out of their mouths (the hard end if that matters). Now I'm stressing out that they're going to get salmonella. My...
Today we were eating outside, we grilled steak for dinner. We were sitting in our enclosed porch and the hens were watching us and clucking, so I gave them each a tiny piece of my steak...
So after dinner I went into the yard with them and they kept pecking my legs, toes and trying to fly up on...
I'm looking to get a pet Flemish giant soon. Will be outside. I've been trying to research the best cage design. I want him/her to have plenty of room and I don't really want to use a wire bottom cage (tho I've also read thats not good for Flemish giants anyway)
I'm debating between using a...
My golden laced Wyandotte was SUPPOSE to be a girl (feed store told me they only order pullets) but I'm second guessing it.
Obviously my silkie was straight run but I really want it to be a hen lol.
Silkie is about 10 weeks and I think the Wyandotte is just a bit younger (8-10 weeks)
Is it a bad idea to put 1 (4 day old) chick with two of my 4 week old chicks? Will they hurt the new one or do they do that yet at 4 weeks? Want to know before I pick up a new chick. :)
Trying to figure out what size I need to build for my chickens. I'm planning on keeping 3 chickens. (Either 1 full size and 2 bantams OR 2 full size and 1 bantam... Depends on what ones end up being hens)
I read online if you don't plan to free range, they need 10sqft per chicken. So that would...
I have 5, 2 week old Silke chicks and I just got 3 new chicks that are a few days old. My silkie chicks keep trying to Peck the new ones feet I didn't know that was an issue this young. What do I do to get them to like them??
(The new ones are a buff Orpington, Japanese bantam and a polish) do...
I have been wanting backyard chickens, but I am now toying with the idea of possibly 2 ducks (pets).
How messy could I expect 2 ducks to be? haha Are they going to smell bad for the neighbers? Can they fly over a 6ft fence? Can they be pretty friendly? Tell me the good and bad! :)
Hello! I had chickens growing up, and up untill I was a teen and LOVED them (I used to be a member on this forum but that was like 15 years ago lol)
Back then we lived in the country with acres, and now me and my husband are purchasing our new home and finally I am going to get some backyard...
