Hi everyone
Can anyone tell me if I have hen or cockerel. The pictures are of my three Sablepoots, about 6 weeks old.
Thanks in advance for the replys.
Yes part half of the run is covered. The coop is for 6 birds, so it said when I bought it. I would only be happy with 4 hens in there though. The fertile eggs I'm using are bantam eggs and I'm planning on keeping one or two of them. The school I work at have a flock of 25 chickens. If more than...
The nesting box is about 6 inches from the floor. The coop is made from welded mesh and dug down just over a foot so I'm not worried about predators.
She has been broody for about 2 days now only leaving the eggs for about 30mins a day.

Well the chicks survived, don't know what I was worried about .
Never seen 5 chickens so happy to be Let out this morning.
Quick question, should i put some perches in the chicken run?
Just been out to put the chicks in the coop for their first night. They really didn't want to go in, I tried treats still no luck. Had to put them in one by one, every time I opened the door they tried to escape.
Making a lot of noise at the moment, I can see it will be a long night of...
Here are some better pics of the Barnevelders.
First two pics are of the one I believe is a cockerel. The other pics are of the other two which I think are hens.
Thanks for the reply's
I will leave the chicks outside from tomorrow. I have a feeling my boys will be checking them every two minutes.
It will be nice to get the conservatory back though.
I will put some more pics on tomorrow. Made it myself wanted to make sure it was as predator proof as possible. The chicks are pets for our two boys so losing one would be the end of the world

Hi all
What are your thoughts on my 6 week old Barnevelder, I think it is a cockerel.
The first pic is of Solo my Barnevelder which I think is a cockerel. The second pic is of his sister who hatched at the same time.
