Found one of our hens dead in the coop this morning :(

Thank you :) She was a rescue so we don't know anything about her past. I guess as you say it could have been anything.

Found one of our hens dead in the coop this morning :(

We have 4 runner ducks and 3 chickens. This morning when we went to check their water and feed we sadly found one of our rescue hens dead in the coop :( there was no signs of any predators or blood etc. She was totally intact and seemed healthy yesterday. It's dropped cold in the UK in the...

Hen hiding in our neighbours hedge!

Advice needed please! We bought a new hen home Saturday, somehow she escaped on that same day (we have 2 other hens and 4 ducks and none of those have ever gotten out) and we’ve been looking since for her. Neighbour came over earlier to say she’s been hanging about her garden since Saturday...

Found a nest full of eggs outside of the duck house?

Thanks so much everyone! I think that’s what I’ll do. They have a duck house at the moment but nowhere in there for them to nest as such. Will I need to create a ‘nest’ within the duck house to put the fresh eggs into? And how do I make one? Or do I just place them all together in there and...

Found a nest full of eggs outside of the duck house?

I guess we could leave her out at night. But she tends to just run inside with the others. If she is full broody will she be sat on them constantly or would she be getting up every now and then?

Found a nest full of eggs outside of the duck house?

I think she is broody. Today when I got home from work she was sat on the eggs and wouldn’t move. Is it possible to move the eggs into the duck house? Or do I just take them away? I get the feeling she is going to continue to lay in that spot... I’d actually quite like her to have...

Found a nest full of eggs outside of the duck house?

I'm assuming these eggs won't still be 'alive'? Just thinking as she's not able to sit on them at night with her being in her duck house... Do I just remove them? How do I get her to lay them inside her duck house?

Found a nest full of eggs outside of the duck house?

We recently acquired some Indian Runner ducks when we bought our new home as the last owners couldn't take them with them and we agreed to take them on. We have 3 females and 1 male. For the last couple of weeks we thought that one of our ducks wasn't laying as we were 1 egg short everyday -...
