My Easter Egger, Sophia, has been sick for a few weeks. She started off with some yellow diarrhea. I isolated her and gave her fish mox which did not help. She is drinking and eating a little bit but is essentially skin and bones at this point. I haven’t seen any lice or mites on her and her...
I’ve been treating Gertrude’s bumblefoot for about a month. I tried surgery but couldn’t find any infection. Then I took her to the vet and got a prescription antibiotic which didn’t help at all. About two weeks ago I started soaking her foot in Tricide Neo which worked. Her bumblefoot looks...
Thanks for the info! I am in the US. I have no antibiotics at the moment but I have Fish Mox on the way. I feel like my coop is clean. I use sand and have a poop board that I scrape every morning. 😩 And my girls free range all day.
Evidently, in my area the vets will not do this for poultry. Our closest vet that sees poultry will only do the test with an examination. They really make things difficult and expensive.

I must not have been clear enough about what I had already done to treat Gertrude. I just assumed she would remove the infection. I won’t assume next time. 😂
My chicken Gertrude had been suffering from Bumblefoot for almost a year. I tried several times during that time to extract the kernel with no luck. Last week I noticed that she started limping for the first time so I tried again to remove the kernel. She stopped walking completely two days...
I am in the process of building a new coop and am struggling with what paint to use on the inside of the coop. I have considered Amish white washing but don’t want the upkeep plus I can not find Hydrated lime anywhere locally. Then I considered milk paint but it’s pricey, not available locally...
Any guesses on this little guy? Two pics are current at 4 weeks and the other pic is when it was about a day old. I’m not sure on the breed because it came from a friends barnyard mix but I’m guessing Barred Rock. I feel like the head spot looks like a hen but the legs look more like a roo. Thanks!
