    Hatch poultry farms

I knew this guy was a scammer from the beginning. He claimed to have a "Cairo line" of Japanese quail imported from Egypt that reach 20oz on his Youtube videos. I kept asking him for proof, but he never showed anything. His website and business are now defunct. I'm willing to bet he was never...

    Craigslist bully

I live in a major city and since the beginning of this year, there's been a lot of different people selling quail. Until recently, when some A-hole decided to start mass flagging everyone else's ads to get them removed. Now only a bunch of his ads are at the top when you search for quail...

    Is this a hen?

It's more than likely a male, since females typically don't have red under their beak or that far down their chest.

    Button quail chick color

The chick in the picture below is the darkest one that I've hatched so far. The picture was edited to increase the light so you can see him better, but he's very dark in person. From what I could find online, he might be turn out to be a double blue face with some white highlights. Has anyone...

    Cool looking button quail chick

I've never had a two-tone chick like this hatch hatch for me. I was experimenting because I was only getting silvers or natural colors hatching. I'm glad I removed my one male breeder, because this chick looks awesome and is very healthy!

    How to stretch hardware cloth.

You need 11 - 12 degrees to make them roll. Make sure the wires that are perpendicular to the front of your cage are on top too. If the wires on top are parallel instead, the eggs will get stuck and will require a higher degree of slant for the eggs to roll all the way forward.

    How to stretch hardware cloth.

It wouldn't have to be manually fastened down with lag bolts and screws. You also wouldn't need to manually alternate turning nuts on each side. The threaded rods on each side would be connected by gears and the whole 'gripper' part would move unilaterally. The gears would be powered by a...

    How to stretch hardware cloth.

I just slowly finessed the hardware cloth with a flat head screwdriver when I was building my cages. Luckily the wire was thick enough to endure the strain from the screwdriver. If I was going to buid these cages on a regular basis, I would make a jig. It would be comprised of a clamp that...

    Indoor stacked hutch plans only

I based my cage design from this video: I just modified the dimensions to fit around the poop trays I used, which are here: https://www.chewy.com/frisco-dog-crate-replacement-pan/dp/137860

Has anyone used one of these incubators?

I've seen a 288 quail / 72 chicken egg plastic 2-tier incubator on Ebay, but people have complained that they're very poor quality. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-288-Quail-72-Egg-Incubator-Hatcher-Auto-Turner-Auto-Alarm-110V-50HZ/123938273991 Has anyone used one of those? I want something...

Best medium capacity incubator for quails?

I'm looking for an incubator for quail eggs that has a capacity of at least 100 eggs and is reliable. I'm using a Little Giant forced air incubator w/ quail rails (120 eggs) and a Rite Farm 1200 incubator (48 eggs). I incubate 40 jumbo eggs and 20 button quail eggs a week in the Little Giant...

    What are these clowns doing??

I use 'mini flakes' which have virtually no dust in them. Dust or cedar is what causes respiratory problems.

    Bedding in drinker

Get mini wood chips as a bedding. They work a lot better.

    What are these clowns doing??

Get mini wood chips. They're a step up from saw dust and work great. They should be the same price as regular wood chips. Mini wood chips will last longer, keep your chicks' feet cleaner, they can't create a siphon and they will stay out of your waterer a lot more.

Quail Cage Cleaning Frequency - HELP!

The easiest way to keep them clean is to have 1/2" hardware cloth as a floor and poop trays under that. Weekly dust bathes will clean their feathers and feet if they do happen to get messy; it also serves as a relief from the hardware cloth. I only have to clean their poop trays weekly and I...

    Constant Crowing

I assume you're talking about Japanese quail. One male is enough to service at least 3 females. Two males to one female is way too much. Normally, the female would be overbred and end up severely damaged from the two males. I've had one male beat up 5 females by himself. It might be that you...

    Drinking cups

I use the exact same cups in my garage and they've had no issues for over a year. If you're going to use them in a place that gets sunlight, don't use a translucent container and treat the water with apple cider vinegar. I use a 6 gallon emergency water container from Walmart as my reservoir. I...

Breeding traits out of Japanese quail

I incubate eggs and brood the chicks in my house. The chicks were being quite noisy so I decided I would try to change that. I observed which ones were making noise and tagged one of their legs. If they were making noise a second time, their other leg would be tagged. For the third time, they...
