Awe😕 I guess I never thought of it that both would have to die then.
I've got a double Yolker due to hatch any time now and I thought both were developing at days 5-7 or so and then I didn't candle till day 10 and it's like one disappeared so I hope it didn't die cause I want one (or...
Yeah they are quite something😂
Yeah I noticed that but I could not see any foreign objects but I will try giving him a foot soak. How warm water would you use?
Upon inspecting his foot again I noticed one toe is crooked. Maybe he's sprained his ankle and broken a toe? Or I dunno. There's so...
My rooster (Earl is the name) got into a scrap with an other rooster that he'd been raised with since he was a few weeks old. They'd always gotten along, but last week or so he decided he didn't like my other roo (Froggy). They were fighting through 2 inch spaced metal bars cause Froggy is...
I ended up putting him in the end of a panty hose with holes cut in it for his head, wings and vent and he was trying to run around and was eating and drinking but he'd died when I checked on him at 4 am
Oh no. I am going to try giving it a sling or splinting it and see if he seems alert and getting better in a few days but I may have to follow suit and put him out of his misery.
No his toes are fine n this guy walked alright earlier today n I go out to check on him an hour later and his hip feels like it's jutting out so I don't know what happened. I hope your chick recovers. Yeah I have found when they first hatch toes look curled but in my experience it doesn't stay...
Chick is a one day old (ee/bo x br ) and I think it's hip may be out of place. His leg was sticking out so I put hobles on but he still can't stand. Is there anything I can do for him? Or is he going to be a cripple. Thanks for any ideas.
The roo is my bcm and the middle hen is the ee or ameraucana hen that i believe to be silver and the one on the right idk what her colour is (maybe white x silver?)
The hen in the corner is buff orp x ee
Do you have any hens that lay a similar colour to that? because then I'd say it is from one of your hens, because in the past when my parents had layer hens we'd sometimes get an egg that was under 1" long and nearly circular rather than oblong like a normal egg.
I'm also wondering if I leave both roos with the girls at the same time if I'll be able to tell their offspring apart at hatch, or only able to once the sussex x temporarity get speckled and the maran pullets start to lay
So I've got a speckled sussex (mahogany or redish brown base with green on tail and wings and some white flecks) and a black copper maran roo.
My hens are barred rock, a couple barred rock mixed with idk what but their father looked barred just darker and threw some black females and dark barred...
Well nothing is smelling or leaking so I will probably hang onto them longer just in case if it's slow in development. Thanks.
Well nothing is smelling or leaking so I will probably hang onto them longer just in case if it's slow in development , but do they always start to smell before they...
So my chicken eggs have been in the incubator since around 9 pm on the 17th and last night I candled a couple 'cause I just couldn't wait any longer to see if something was happening. 2 were developing nicely but 2 of the white ones that I got from elsewhere were not doing ANYTHING. Can I safely...
Thanks and I love my chickens and it's taken a lot of being on the ball and some travel to get some of them and hoping they'll make beautiful chicks as well as eggs😊
