    Well, my bantam isn't necessarily tiny; in fact, she's larger than my reds, but she's not a roo (I see no waddle & she hasn't ever behaved in a roo way). The other hens used to chase her around some, but never really picked or pecked at her. "Hairyetta" is content to just roost all day long...

    how to encourage all hens to lay

    I have 5 hens: 1 bantam, 2 redstars, and 1 redrock who're all around 5 months old-old enough to be laying. My wonder though is why all my girls are not laying; on average I'm getting 2 eggs a day. I know my bantam has only laid 1 egg because it was blueish, but I'm not sure who's been laying...

    my hens are JUST now starting to lay eggs; can we eat these pellet eggs or do we need to wait until the eggs become more consistent? Thanks!

    leghorn rooster vs. hen

    I'm a green chicken mom and have been doing research on what types of chickens I'm raising. I know I have a leghorn, and according to pictures, the rooster is very colorful. My leghorn is white like a hen, but has a full red waddle and crows...hens don't crow, right?
