    Should I be concerned? Sneezing & coughing

    @dawg53 When we were driving home we heard some coughing/sneezing. We contacted the previous owners and they said they had never heard that from the chickens before. They wondered if it was stress from the move. We do have more chickens in another coop isolated from these chickens. We have...

    Should I be concerned? Sneezing & coughing

    We acquired 15 new chickens from another farm. The farm was spotless and had lots of different fowl - peacocks, geese, chickens, gunieas and quail. But the birds have been sneezing and coughing on and off for the last 3 weeks. We have dewormed and been treating with VetRX. They have been eating...

    Watermelon = loose, red poop?

    Thanks everybody. I got a little worried when I first saw it. :barnie I figured you would be easier to ask here vs trying to go through Google and causing me to freak out even more than I already had.

    Watermelon = loose, red poop?

    My girls range in age between 14-18ish weeks. I don't have a picture as I was doing morning chores and left my phone in the house. If I notice it again, I will take pictures.

    Watermelon = loose, red poop?

    Still new to the chicken life so bare with me as I ask this weird question - I gave my ladies watermelon yesterday due to the heat and this morning I noticed a newer pile with red in it. I don't want to jump on the coccidiosis bandwagon as they are all seeming to be healthy and happy and...

    When your dog thinks he is a chicken

    We have been told it is a Cream Legbar. It was a FB purchase from a woman who bought a rare mix from a hatchery and they were "filler" birds. His name is Napolean. He is the smallest roo we had with the biggest ego. He totally lives up to his name!

    When your dog thinks he is a chicken

    We have a Great Dane who thinks he is a chicken! He literally drinks out of their water and eats out of their feeders. We have to shoo him away from the chicken treats. Does anyone else have a dog who thinks he/she is a chicken too?

    First Time Chicken Owner

    Welcome to BYC! I understand about find out you have a bunch of Roos and not wanting to do the deed. I never thought we would be able to process the chickens ourselves. Luckily we live fairly close to a place that would do it for $5/bird. I figured that is what we would do if we ever...

    I have a lot of questions....

    All of our chickens free range all day. We have hawks and other predators in the area but so far...knock on wood...we have been blessed that we have our whole flock still. We are looking at building a large enclosure/run in the next few months. We have 2 small coops that they sleep in and run...
