Well I found that last egg broke and the shell in the water bucket. She still hissing and me and walks around screaming. She flattened the one nest a few days ago, built another one close by and then flattened that one. She has now made another one. With the send nest she laid another egg but...
I noticed my duck was starting a her clutch a couple weeks ago. At this time I believe she had maybe 4 eggs. I candled a couple of them but assumed it was too early. The next day she had kicked one egg out and it was cracked. I removed the egg and found that there was an embryo in it. Her...
Update..it was a raccoon. He's gone now, I set another trap because I seen something was trying to dig him out of the trap. Ill check that when I get home
I didn't post picture of the pen, but its completely covered with chicken wire and a think green fencing. ( like the kind you use around a garden) wood on the bottom half
I didn't take pictures, figured no one wanted a true visual. I could if it would help. I have both chicken wire and the thick green fencing. I just went out and inspected the area more and noticed at the top that the fencing is no longer connected to the wood. But how is it that no other...
Sorry for the gorie description im about to leave. I had 3 drakes and 5 hens Saturday when I locked them up. Sunday morning I found 1 girl dead in the pen. It looked like the back of her neck was skinned. That was all with that one. I did some research and I now know my drake to hen ratio is...
I noticed my duck acting a little crazy when she was got of the pen. I candled a few of her eggs that she had in her nest. Last year my other duck hatched 16 eggs so I'm somewhat familiar with all this. I'm just a little unsure still. As far as I can tell, I see no veins.
I only have 1 other duck in there besides her. The drake. I removed the egg. I'm waiting for her to get off so I can put it back. Shes snapping at me. Will it be ok to do wait for her to get off or do battle though her snapping? This is my first hatch, I'm completely clueless.
What do I do if my duck has kicked a egg out that has started to hatch? By the look off the egg while candling, it's time for them to hatch. The duckling is still alive in there, I can see it poke his bill out. Should I return it to the nest when she gets off ? Or can I take it out of then coop...
