    Help! Warning: graphic necropsy

There were a lot of yolks- about 3 or 4 good sized ones and several more smaller ones. We had been getting less eggs lately, but I have 3 other barred rocks so I couldn't tell which one was laying. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I use all flock since I have roosters in with the hens, but I'm not sure if that contributed...

    Help! Warning: graphic necropsy

One of my barred rocks started with panting yesterday mid morning. She was sluggish and not eating or drinking. By evening she was gone. I did a necropsy, and there was a large mass of yellow fat (?) in her abdomen and surrounding her gizzard. It looked like a bunch of yolks in her oviduct as...

    Adding new chickens

Thanks for all the helpful info. I just brought the polish home and have separated her from the cemani. It appears that the cemani has somehow injured her leg. It looks like a tendon injury as I couldn't feel anything broken. She walks fine for a while then the leg sort of juts out to the side...

    Adding new chickens

I have a 9 week old pullet separated from the rest of my flock-all are 12 weeks-and am getting a new pullet tomorrow. She should be about 8 or 9 weeks. I was going to add the newbie (a polish) in with my other 9 week old (Ayam Cemani/Orpington mix). Other than the quarantine time and possible...

Thank you! She does look similar to that one. Maybe she will develop more coloring as she matures.

    Hi!

It's been a life changing experience. Living in close quarters really makes you examine what is important. Namely, a bathtub. But seriously, ditching TV and having quality family time is worth it. Also, the chickens...

    Unknown bantam breed

So here is my bantam pullet from TSC. I can't figure out which breed she is...help! She's very fast so getting a good picture is tricky. Very small comb and no visible wattles yet at 10 weeks old. The darker than feathers almost look laced, and I noticed today there are some darker brown-maybe...

    Hi!

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I had 10 chickens over 6 years ago, but ended up giving them away after my daughter was born. I'm happy to say I've got a new flock now! (2) How many chickens do you have right now? 19 (3) What breeds do you have? Mille Fleur...
