This is a pretty silly question. I hatched out coturnix quail in October and they have been mature but I haven't heard any crowing at all. I had these kind of quail but never over winter. Out of 7 birds and I dont think they are all female. Also not a single egg. Probably because days are too short.
If anyone can please help. My baby chick got pecked by another older bird. It got the chicks eye. It is looking somewhat better. I washed it with warm water. Picture attach. Is it going to be ok...is it going to be???
So an update on the quails. Only 2 of them make the wind noise. The blue faced and red breasted male with a bib. The rest don't make the wind noise. One started to lay eggs. I think its the silver tuxedo pied. The silver has no red or pink feathers. I am pretty sure it's a female.
Yea. Mine is very similar to that one. They are very beautiful birds you have. My birds are about 7 weeks old and the female still doesn't lay eggs. When is she suppose to lay? My aquarium is 10 gallon with 3 birds, do they need more space?
I have 2 of these kind and they look almost identical. Are they females? Do male this color even exist?
Also this white with black spots? Female or Male ? (Its next to 2 males)
It has no red vent feathers.
Ok. Thank you very much for letting me know. The silver is the same bird picture 4 & 5 . It has a white belly and silver back.
In a few weeks I'll keep checking to see if it gets pink feathers. So far the way I hear (silver and the red breasted hens)them calling it's a quiet pew pew pew. Verses...
Yea. I had a hydrometer and I guess for some reason one side of the eggs got shrink wrapped and the other hatched out fine. Maybe because I put some sponges on only one side? So that's the reason i had to help.
I haven't ever incubated coturnix quail but I have incubated button quail. And that's what happened to my quail, it only made a hole and stopped pecking. So I decided to help it. The chicks got shrink wrapped and I ended up saving 4 out of 5. Just gotta be careful when helping, so it doesnt...
