    Turkey essentials

We've literally had them for 5 days and are in love. I know not everyone gets attached to their birds, but we do. I'm just so afraid we will raise them up, let them out, and they all get sick. But no one can give me a clear answer. Can I just put them out there when they're fully feathered like...

    Turkey essentials

We just got some poults, wondering what essentials I should have on hand. I have chickens and have never needed to medicate them for anything, but I keep reading about worming them before they go outside and ppl talk about giving them corid just know case, but I don't understand why. Can anyone...

    New Addition...but what is she?

That's so funny, I was posting that she looked gamey to me yeah, I agree. The neighbor said she was Americauna, but she's 2yrs old and so small, I get the blue egg thing could indicate Americauna, but I've never seen such a fancy looking one. I think she is mixed w something.

    New Addition...but what is she?

She reminded me of a game bird, only bc her tail stays up and fanned out all the time. Also I really have no idea what a game bird looks like....she just seems...fancy. And she is very high strung and standoffish, but that could be bc last week her whole family was killed off. Anyway, I was...

    New Addition...but what is she?

She was laying light blue eggs. I have an EE, but her face is fluffy and her legs are green. This one doesn't have the face fluff and had more..grayish legs. But idk much about chickens yet, and maybe she is an EE w just different color variations ??? Idk. My other one is very dark in color...

    New Addition...but what is she?

We have acquired this pretty girl. Our neighbors had a mass murder in their coop and she was able to escape and hide. But since the incident, she had been lonely and quit laying...anyway they gave her to us bc they aren't getting more chickens til spring. So what breed is she? Any ideas?

    Eggbound??

My RIR began laying a couple weeks ago. She gave us 1 egg a day up until 3 days ago...now nothing. Is it normal for this to happen? Nothing has changed. Weather, coop conditions, food, water...everything has been consistent. Could she be egg bound? She's eating and drinking and acting normal.

    My hen is crowing

Gotcha. He is a big bird. About 10lbs. I mean, big in comparison to the others which are the same age. We aren't planning on hatching any chicks. For one, we weren't planning on getting a rooster at all, and two, we don't have the stuff we may need to raise them (assuming the hens don't sit or...

    My hen is crowing

Why leg deformity? Bc of the waddle? He looks fully feathered, but his belly is bare and under his wings are still coming in. I know part of the belly thing is bc he's always sitting down, but there are still a lot of feathers that haven't come in, the big feathers are covering the bare spots...

    My hen is crowing

The ppl at the feed store said whatever it is that i have is what we needed for our birds. I went in clueless when we ran out of chick starter, told them how old our birds are and they sold me this stuff, said it was what we need. At the time, the one hadn't started crowing and actually hasn't...

    My hen is crowing

Yeah, we're just feeding it regular laying mash. They free range all day and eats whatever is in the yard, however, today he got into the food and sat there and ate like a glutton. I mean...it was A LOT before i found him. So we'll see what happens. His fat self hasn't moved much and has poop...

    My hen is crowing

So far everyone that has seen it in person is saying rooster. Who knows. It doesn't have a rooster tail, to me, but that doesn't mean anything. I have no idea, these are my first birds. I thought the feed store knew what they were talking about when we bought them, but they were just as clueless...

    My hen is crowing

I am not 100% sure what it is lol it was definitely crowing, but DO they copy cat? Bc every morning have neighboring roosters from every side of the area. It does dominate, but shoot, it NEEDS more food than the others lol. My neighbor has had several and she actually brought it to my attention...

    My hen is crowing

Ooooh gotcha. I wasn't trying to be ugly, i honestly don't know. They make all kinds of sounds, i wouldn't be surprised to learn they can mimic neighboring roosters lol Anyway, i am not 100% what breed it is. It was sold as an Orpington HEN. I am pretty sure it isn't Orpington, i thought...

I cut off my chick's toe with a scissors...

I'm sorry. I'm sure it will be ok. Mine survived a dog. They were bloody and bald in spots (only 4 days old)...now they are fully feathered and about 3mo old. But i cried and cried when it happened. Animals are pretty resilient though
