So sorry to hear about your rooster. I was wondering if you still had this available or could recommend who you purchased it from. I have a chicken I purchased and she lost her foot. and would really like to get her something. thanks.
MY apologies, I have not forgotten that I want a video, but my duck is playing shy and I cannot figure out which one he is....seems his foot is working better. I will continue to monitor all the feet (I have 20 pekins) and if his issue continues, I will get a video. thank you everyone.
Thank you. , I understand the concern. I have a duck who seems to get bumblefoot often (Mr. Bumble) I treat his foot and wrap it as needed. The reason for the shoe/wrap is to prevent the foot from folding under and possibly causing more damage. But being in snowy cold NY I worry about...
I will attempt to get a video. I have tried a couple times but it seems to be just fine or there were other ducks that would get in the way... thanks for the links.
I worry about trying to make a split of any kind as I don't want snow/ice to get stuck in it causing the foot to get cold. But it is an option I was considering if I could not get some shoes. :)
I do provide supplemental niacin once a month for the whole flock (31 ducks, 5 geese, 6 moscovy...
I believe he is probably around 1 year. I think he is one I adopted. As far as I know it has only been a few weeks. I keep a watch on it to ensure it is not staying permanently under. If it is the one male I adopted, it could have been happening a lot longer as she had the ducks on a...
I have a duck who seems to have one of his feet fold under as he walks. does not happen all the time. I have looked at it for bumble foot but have not found anything. I was thinking if I could get some duck shoes (as I remember someone made shoes to see--I think, it has been awile). And my...
I have to agree. they need to bath often in order to keep their feathers waterproof. I have done some reading as I have to two house ducks (one blind and one with a crippled foot) and I put them in the tub when they are in the house (this is their first winter and they are not housed with the...
I keep my ducks in my chicken coop. I make sure they have cover so they don't get pooped on. I use kiddie pools for their swimming. Use duck feed (has the niacin they need) , since you have females, you will also want to use a layer feed. Since I have ducks, geese, guineas, turkeys and a...
I am so sorry I never got pictures. out of these last 5 duck eggs I finally got one. with 2 eggs possibly still to hatch (I am hoping for atleast 1 more). I will make every attempt to always get pictures. thank you for your comments. I will always keep them in mind in the future.
well the breeding stock are all at least 8months to a year. I have not feed them flock raiser, but they do get layer feed. I have given them some egg shells and will increase more often (or aleast next year)
The humity has been between 45 to 55%. and then I try to increase it to around 60...
So I have had the worst luck this year with hatching duck eggs. They start out beautifully. I have been monitoring the temp and the humidity. I have 1 still air and 2 circulating air. all have egg turners. I have done the candling and monitored the air sack, and movement within the eggs...
Sorry for the delay everyone. however no video was able to be taken because the little guy has stopped falling over. so my apologies for jumping to conclusions that there was a problem. thank you all .
My Tuft Roman was roming outside one day, when I had to leave for 1/2 hour, I closed up the big pen so the ducks would not get out. but left him wandering with the tom turkey (they were strutting poppas). when I returned 1/2 hour later he was back in the closed fenced in area hanging with...
I have a friend who I have been hatching ducks with. one of her new ducklings (cayuga) (about a week old now) seems to act normal, but at times get up on its "toes" and then tip backwards and then not be able to right itself. It is fed duck food not chicken starter. it is still under the...
