    6.5 week old chicks

What is EE? Sorry, I’m pretty ignorant when it comes to knowing breeds. I didn’t pick these out. They were just brought to the farm. No Silkies. I looked at charts and it looks like 2 Roosters that are Reds. Hens: we have 7 Reds, 2 Ameraucanas, 3 Barred Plymouth Rocks, 2 Black Astralorps, and 1...

    6.5 week old chicks

Awwww man.... this is why I didn’t want to chance hatching any eggs. We already have 2 roosters. Not sure what to do with another. Lol I don’t even know what breed the roosters are bc they were rescues. Thanks for the response.

    6.5 week old chicks

Happy to say our chicks are now 6.5 weeks old. We’re pretty sure the one is a Red, but we’re completely baffled with the other chick. It’s feathers are white, and it’s skin is gray/black. We have no white hens. Fingers crossed they’re both hens.

    New Introduction

So the mighty update. All seems to be well with the roosters and hens. The hens are keeping the roosters in their places and they seem to be just as happy as they were before. The roosters are now putting themselves away at night....so we don’t have to chase them in. They were staying away from...

Thanks! I’ll definitely get on that. We end up catching them in a large rubbermaid trashcan. They run right into it. Seems to be the easiest way to get them. These are the two boys. They’ve come a long way. I have no idea what type they are. I just call the darker one Mick (Like Mick Jagger)...

    New Introduction

See, I read somewhere a minimum of 10 hens per rooster, but was assured that they would all do well. Lol, hence why I’m here. Trust me, my girls come 1st. If there are any issues, my husband is already ready to handle it. I hate to say it, bc I’m a huge animal lover, but I won’t risk the hens’...

    New Introduction

Thanks for the warm welcome. We’re located in Fallston, MD. No current roosters, prior to these 2. The roosters were found together & have since been kept that way, with no issues. The run has about a 5ft fence around it and we haven’t had any predator issues, knock on wood, since last year...

    New Introduction

Hi all. I’ve used this site for so much info & have no idea why I waited so long to join. My husband and I have had chickens for well over a year. We’ve had up to 32 chickens, but the foxes have helped that number dwindle greatly. With only 2 survivors from the last attack (which we took the...
