HeiHei hatched her third batch of eggs.

HeiHei is officially a grandma. I have an olive egger roo who fertilized eggs from my flock. This is her first time hatching eggs from our own chickens. So exciting! She hatched 3 of her own babies for the first time. And the other 4 are from chickens that she raised herself. So she just became...

    Welsummer laying blue eggs?

This one lays light blue eggs. I have another hen that lays olive green eggs that someone here mentioned is probably a starlight green egger. She's the light brown one facing the left. Do you have a picture of yours?

Thank you for that explanation. None of my other hens laid a tiny one, so my wife was concerned. My kids love it though. 🤣

    Tiny silkie egg.

My silkie has been laying eggs for about two weeks now. Today she laid a tiny little egg. Looked like an all white quail egg. I haven't cracked it yet to see if there was a yolk. 🤣

    Not so free-ranging.

Yes. It is zip tied. Also the holes are too small for a hawk to fly through. And I only let them out right before evening when my kids and I are outside playing. So we keep an eye on them. Thanks for looking out.

    Not so free-ranging.

Hi all, When I had my chickens in Northern California, I allowed my 4 hens to roam free in my backyard. For about 4 months, until a hawk swooped in and ate half of my white crested black polish. I came home from work devastated. Since then, I only let them out when I'm home from work. About 2...

Comment by 'Mushroomchef' in article 'Fermenting Chicken Feed: A Straightforward Method'

I just started ff a couple of days ago. I've been sprouting for them for about two months. They go nuts for the sprouts. When I put in the ff for them two days ago, they went crazy for that as well. So I ordered from Amazon, 25lbs of organic lentils, 25lbs organic unhulled barley, 25lbs organic...
