Introducing 2 new hens into a new coop, need advice!
8x7 foot coop with a 16 foot enclosed run. The new birds are about the same age. About a year old. And isolated as in they have been removed from the main flock at the farm and are living separately now until our coop is ready.- MattyBowman

Hen boxes
We had the same problem, and we added 3 inch lips to the front to make it more of a box rather than just an alcove and we changed the bedding in the nest boxes to wood shavings rather than straw for the rest of the the coop and that totally solved the problem, they stopped scratching and...- MattyBowman

New to Chickens!
Welcome! Lots of great advice here lots to learn from. My chickens do fine and we get to minus 7 to 10 Celsius here and they don't mind at all. Before they were laying, we put cardboard over the nests so they couldn't get in there to sleep. Everything you need to know is here somewhere :)...- MattyBowman

Think our first egg coming
Wonderful news! When our chickens first were going to lay, they all started making odd grumbly low growls and their tone changed dramatically, then a few days later, EGGS. It sure is exciting once they start laying. But it was certainly a clear signal from them things were about to change...- MattyBowman
