    Limping Chicken!

I am going to try this method for my Lavender Orpington with a mysterious lip. How much Vitamin B Complex do you recommend?

    Limping Orpington - not bumblefoot

We have four chickens in an enclosed run. It's possible she could have jumped down from something (I've heard that's a problem for Orpingtons). She's been limping on and off for quite a while now and the vet didn't see any evidence of an injury. Do you have any advice for checking for ligament...

    Limping Orpington - not bumblefoot

There is no swelling of her joints or feet. The bumblefoot healed well and she was right as rain for about six months afterward. She does put weight on that side but gingerly...like a long, quick type gait. It also appears to come and go, she doesn't limp hard all of the time.

    Limping Orpington - not bumblefoot

Hello All, I have a Lavender Orpington (almost 2 years old) that has begun limping. We successfully treated bumblefoot in both of her feet, re-introduced her to the flock, and everything was fine for about six months. Lately she has begun limping again and is usually the last one out of the...

    Bumblefoot healing? Scab or infection?

Two weeks and three days - she had it in both feet and is still limping hard on one side.

    Bumblefoot healing? Scab or infection?

It's so hard to get a good picture and the spot is small. The foot pad is not hard but the spot that remains is definitely harder than the surrounding tissue and rough but now as much as before treatment. She's still limping hard on that side though.

    Bumblefoot healing? Scab or infection?

It's firm and rough but definitely not as much before treatment. Yes, we have been using neosporin but will look into Silvex for future use. The wounds from removing the spots have healed over at this point but a dark spot remains on one foot. Thanks for the reply!

    Bumblefoot healing? Scab or infection?

We are knee deep in our first case of bumblefoot. After noticing Iris limping, inspecting her feet, and consulting these forums we determined that she had bumblefoot (feet). We read extensively about treatment and went with an Epsom salt soak , loosening and removing plugs, vetericyn, antibiotic...

Isolate the bumblefoot or the bully?

We currently have a very small flock of just three hens. We had to do a bumblefoot procedure of both of Iris' feet yesterday. We were hoping to keep her in the same coop and run at the other two during her recovery. Gem has always been the dominate hen but not to the level of a bully - however...

I am about to start my first bumblefoot treatment - did you seperate her from the flock during healing?

    Wry Neck recovery expectations

I appreciate the reply - the vet prescribed both B complex (liquid, tiny amount given by syringe daily) and Corid to be added to her water at the same time. Unfortunately tomorrow is a holiday, but we'll definitely call the office on Tuesday to talk with the vet again. He also didn't mention...

    Wry Neck recovery expectations

Our one year old Silkie/Polish hen started displaying symptoms of wry neck. We took her to the vet who did a fecal smear, gave her B complex and B12 injections, and recommended Corid in her water. We're on day2 of feeding her regular chicken feed dissolved to mush (sometimes with scrambled egg...

    "Rooster Booster" for Wry Neck?

We have a 1 year old Polish Silkie Cross who is exibiting signs of wry neck. Is "Rooster Booster Poultry Cell" sufficient for treatment or is it more preventive? Should I switch to human grade vitamin E capsules instead? Thanks in advance!

    Oatmeal alternative for your flock!

A lot of us like to give our flock a warm breakfast on cold mornings but feeding oatmeal to chickens turns out to be quite controversial! Oats are not nutritionally complete like their ususal feed, so try this recipe my daughter came up with: Chicken "Oatmeal" Feed - we use crumbles but I'm...

    Questionable EE

That actually sounds a lot like Gem's personality! She so much more bold than the others (we have two Lavender Orpingtons and a Silkie/Polish cross). I'll have to post again when she lays her first egg!

    Questionable EE

I looked at pics of Favaucana and Faverolle and those are both really good guesses -- too bad I don't know more about my breeds! I'll have to report back when she lays her first egg :)

    Questionable EE

She was hatched in a classroom of an elementary school! We have no idea where the eggs came from. We were told she was an EE but her feathered legs and five toes has me puzzled.

    Questionable EE

Diverging from the topic a bit but...she has feathered legs and 5 toes -- is it possible she's not an Easter Egger?!
