What are the differences between white and partridge Chantecler, besides color?

I have white chanteclers ....a couple my hens lay pure white eggs. Most are cream coloured and some are a light brown. They are a good eating sizes size by 4-5months. The roosters get along great the first year. The second year some get more territorial...i cul those and keep the gentler ones...

Ameraucana chicks have problems....Is this normal?

I've seen the same issue with my ameraucana eggs I had shipped. I'm on day 24 only 10 out of 40 chicks out. I had to through out 6 eggs cus the development stopped early. Only a few a day hatched. Out of the 10 hatched so far one died from flipping on it's back. Another keeps flipping on it's...

    11th Annual Easter Hatch a Long 2020

I watched several videos in that regard and during candling you'll be able to see the air cell if there's development. So if there's an air cell it's a keeper. I have a few Barnevelder mixes and that's what I relied on.

    Deep litter method

I do deep litter in my coop for the winter and now that things are thawing out water will sit at the door as its a lower spot. I keep the rest of the coop built up and it works well and doesn't stay damp. I make sure I add a layer of bedding every week. I alternate between straw and shavings...

    11th Annual Easter Hatch a Long 2020

Heres a question that may sound stupid but here goes.....if you've had the eggs in the incubator for a few days and candle them to see if they are indeed developing. ...I would assume that it's not OK to eat the ones that show no sign of development?

    11th Annual Easter Hatch a Long 2020

Please add me. I set my eggs today. Spent all day yesterday playing with the heat setting to get it just right. Hope I get a good hatch rate. I didn't candle this batch as I checked some a while back to see if they were getting fertilised. My roosters have been busy so here's hoping. Sadly...
