Advice needed for tending to a blind chick

Hi everyone, sad news, but maybe expected, little one passed away. She wasn't eating well, but made it do day five and then I found her passed away in the morning. She was happy to perch on my finger and take some syringed food, but only a small percentage of what was on offer, but obviously...

Advice needed for tending to a blind chick

Thanks Mary. She's no interested with others, unless they run up against her and then she tried to cuddle under them. She's very vocal, I think because she's hungry? Her face is concave where the eye is missing and the other doesn't open properly, and slightly mal positioned. I have a feeling...

Advice needed for tending to a blind chick

I have tried the tapping but she doesn't respond at all. Maybe she's deaf as well? I've resorted to opening her beak and dripping the mush in one small blob at a time. And she swallows! I'm unsure how much to give her though? Maybe until the crop feels full? I really am stumbling blindly myself...

Advice needed for tending to a blind chick

Hello all, Have any of you reared a blind chick? I have a teo dat old one eyed chick, which apparently seems to be blind in her one eye. I'm not going to cull, I'm going to give it everything I've got to give her a good life. I've read many stories about blind chickens and that they adapt and...

    Hatching ducklings

Yes I always open them afterward. Positioning was quite tightly impacted toward the pointed end. Maybe because of the vertical turner? They seemed to have large air sacs.. The yolks in most of them were quite large for such a developed duckling? I've put other thermometers in and the temp is...

    Hatching ducklings

It could be the humidity? I've followed the directions as its new, however there are reviews stating that it's hard to get right on this incubator. I'll ready up on how to weigh and and track the air cell. That is something I haven't done before

    Hatching ducklings

It's a brand new incubator that I'm using for hatching. There's no digital humidity screen, so maybe I've got that wrong. I have followed there directions though. Maybe I'll take the rest out of the auto turner and do them by hand.

    Hatching ducklings

Hello everyone, Just wanting to know if anyone had any opinions on why my hatch rate has plummeted with ducklings. Last time I incubated them the hatch rate was 90%, and I was manually turning them. This time I have an auto turner and they are at a 10% hatch rate! All seem to be dying around...

    Second incubator for hatching

Hello everyone, Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good second incubator for hatching? I've got a large bator with a turner inside, so I don't want the little guys to hatch in there and get crushed. I only need something small, maybe 7-10 eggs max. Something the little ones can hatch and...
