    Prolapse?

For now I'm going to keep her inside probably for the night for monitoring poop and such. She expelled water with urates so far. For the Caltrate, would that be for scenarios like this or should I give it to her specifically like a supplement?

    Prolapse?

The membrane has been removed and all tissue has gone back in. I gave her an Epsom salt bath in the meantime and she is now separated in a cage. All seems alright now. They're fed Purina Layena Plus Omega-3 Layer Feed, and have a separate cup of egg shells or oyster shells if they so desire...

    Crazy girl

Your bird is so cool looking and they're some nice looking fishies! My gals are the same way and go gaga for fish food. I have to make sure the fish actually get some before they come swarming in! 😆

To scratch or not to scratch

Scratch is essentially a snack and from what I've seen it should be given as an occasional treat or it can lead to an unbalanced diet and their health can deteriorate. A little once a day shouldn't hurt but make sure they aren't preferring the scratch over their actual food. You said they free...

Hen Not Laying or Wanting Eggshells

Yeah they did a little molt- feathers everywhere, it was like they exploded- so that was why she I think she initially stopped again. They had an incident right before that where they were scared out of the coop and all she wanted to do was lay in the porch and then the molting happened. But I...

Hen Not Laying or Wanting Eggshells

The four babies are approximately 9 weeks old. G, the one not laying now, was actually acting a lot more motherly toward them than her sister who is the one who goes broody all the time. The only thing I see is the two older birds keeping themselves in charge especially when it comes to food...

Hen Not Laying or Wanting Eggshells

That's good I think because we've had so many things happen in such a short time she's been extra thrown off her cycle, and now this crazy weather she's just down. They were all such good layers too

Hen Not Laying or Wanting Eggshells

Hopefully she gets back into the swing of things whether it be weather related or not. My grandmom misses the eggs! haha She has a lot of places to go but her main spot is a dirt "nest" that she mostly hangs out in all day under the big pine tree with water right next to her. So knock on wood...

Hen Not Laying or Wanting Eggshells

Ah, the more ya know! Thank you. One more quick question though. So if they pick at it when needed, will it be ok for it to sit out or will the younger ones get into it? I would have a bag now but the family friend got the oyster shells when he was on his motorcycle and the bag fell and...

Hen Not Laying or Wanting Eggshells

That's what crossed my mind because they did a tiny molt and now nothing, then we started getting eggs (well egg a day) and was confused. All birds are different I guess! They were also dependable layers last year through the colder months but if her body says she needs a break then so be it. I...

Hen Not Laying or Wanting Eggshells

My year+ JG hen has stopped laying all together after a couple small incidences. She was the consistent one until now. Even her sister who has been through more is back to laying. We've looked all across and around the yard and have found no signs of other nests or eggs. Now I have four young...

Hen Scared to Lay Egg in Nesting Box

It went in through the open gate into the run, not into the coop itself. It probably bumped into it as it was making it's way around. I just tried to lock her and her sister in the run but they started squawking up a storm and I can't have that. I could put her in the coop but I don't want her...

Hen Scared to Lay Egg in Nesting Box

So yesterday a groundhog scared the daylights out of my currently one laying hen while she was in the nesting box. We found her in the porch where she decided would be safe and laid her egg there. Now today she's adamant on coming back in to do the same. I picked her up and quickly took her back...
