Sick hen...vomiting, diarrhea - please help

Playground sand isn’t sufficiently course enough to work as grit for chickens. I would offer grit. Decomposed granite works great for grit as it offers a large variety of sizes. It makes a great substrate for use in the run.

Lead in Galvanized Waterers and Feeder

It is true there should be no lead in galvanized steel. However there have been several instances of these products testing positive for lead. I want to understand how widespread the issue is. If you have a galvanized steel feeder or waterer, I do recommend testing it for lead.

Lovely post. Very cute idea. Would love to know if having the living roof has lead to a decreased internal temp.

    Introducing new chickens

Chickens have an excellent ability to know flock members from sight. The vinegar to cover their smell is nothing I’ve heard of in vet school but if it works for you no harm. Just be sure not to get it in their eyes. Best way I’ve found to integrate has been setting up a cordoned off area in my...

HELP PLEASE !!!! SERIOUS VENT PROLAPSE! IS IT TIME TO CULL?

If you can’t push the prolapse back in, it will continue to strangulate and she will eventually become septic. It doesn’t look beyond repair with surgery but I’m not sure if that is an option for you or if you have a poultry vet in your area able to do the surgery. Also I do not know if her...

Can Someone Identify This Yellow Leg Game Hen Breed?

It looks like an Old English Game hen to me. If she goes broody all the time and makes a ton of noise, I’d put my money on that as her breed.
