Hello everyone, my quail had a prolapsed vent yesterday morning which I managed to push back gently as I’ve dealt with this problem several times with other birds. She laid an egg the evening before so I was sure she isn’t egg bound. Today, her vent prolapsed again and now I’m not sure if...
I read it here on BYC that a quail that hit its head and got paralyzed might take 4-6 weeks to heal. Her legs are getting stronger and her appetite is back, the real problem are the wings now.
Hello everyone!
My coturnix quail couldn’t get up one day when my mom came home. It must have hit its head. I wasn’t home at the time. She took it to the vet, got some medicine and minerals. It’s been 4 days and the bird still can’t get up, it’s very thin but it started eating today. It can’t...
That’s it, they’re like that. I’ve had birds that I hardly ever had issues with…my old girl passed away peacefully yesterday and no fighting has happened since then…so fingers crossed, I hope it stays this way. These two are gorgeous as well, if only they were a bit smarter…😅
I’ll consider that…but also, who knows when my old girl decides to leave us…so I’m not sure about this yet. The space wouldn’t be enough for 4 of them either.
Hello everyone, yes, it’s me again…
I have an old quail (about 2 years old) and I bought 4 chicks back in june, out of which I only kept two, a silver one and a tibetan (the most unproblematic ones, or at least I thought they were). All 3 of my birds are females. And they can’t get along.
The...
Unfortunately it wasn’t in her feces, I tried to offer her some mealworms, she seemed interested but didn’t eat any.
She’s a bit fluffed up but not too much. Her eyes are clear as usual, no runny nose, sneezing or mucus. I don’t see anything unusual.
I do trim her nails from time to time, but it’s been a while since the last time 😅
Unfortunately I’m not home anymore…I can’t take any more pictures, but my mom will keep an eye on the bird. I saw her drink before I left, I was very happy. I also put some vitamins in her water.
One of her toes is bigger, it looks like it has a lump, it’s been that way for some weeks or maybe months now. I’ve noticed that my old birds tend to have “swollen” toes (they aren’t really swollen though, they’re hard)
Her eyes are clear, her poop is mostly water and urates.
Hello everyone
I have a coturnix quail that hasn’t eaten since yesterday morning, I haven’t seen her drink either. She’s very inactive, but she was way more active two days ago. She’s about 2 years old, so she’s a bit old. Is there anything I can do or should I just say goodbye?
