    Invisible fence for goats. Working!

I know this is an old post, but is this still working for you? We already have a pet safe system installed and if that’ll work, it’ll save me a ton on the electric fencing I was going to buy

    They’ve all gone broody!!

I hope so!! We just introduced him to the ladies about a month ago. He’s just over a year old and was at the bottom of the pecking order in his last home. He’s fitting in beautifully here. Praying he stays just as sweet as he is. I love watching him dote over the ladies!

    They’ve all gone broody!!

They started laying at the end of May. I can’t believe they’re already broody lol. The two new broody ones have only been sitting a day or two. I think I may add a couple new boxes and see if the others keep laying. My heart strings are pulled hard for the ones who want to be mamas lol (I wish I...

Yep we’ve got an Australorp rooster. The one who went broody first, I gave her 8 to sit on. The other two have one or two eggs under them each.

    They’ve all gone broody!!

Alrighty... I’ve got three Australorp hens who’ve all decided to go broody. I’ve got seven hens total but only 3 nesting boxes lol (of which they all used to use one) Now I’ve got three puffy ladies in the boxes and four furious hens who want to lay their eggs. I gave the first one who went...

    Silly idea?

She’s been sitting for a couple of days now. She is puffing up and carrying on when I try and pick her up. Is there an ideal time to add eggs? I’m guessing the sooner the better.

    Silly idea?

I’ve got a hen who I think is going broody. My flock is made up of 8 six month old Australorps and 1 barred rock. All hens. Would it be ridiculous to put a couple of silkie eggs under her? I’d love to add some Floof to my flock but want to see how y’all think they will accept the little ones? My...

    Fertilized egg or no?

Hey hey! I cooked up some eggs this morning and a few of them had what I thought might be a bullseye. Funny thing is I don’t have a rooster.... or maybe I do and haven’t noticed him yet lol they’re about 6 months old.

    Could she be broody?

Nop Nope no rooster here. Maybe I can find some fertile eggs nearby for her. She’s still really a baby though so not sure she’ll continue to sit. Worth a shot though!

    Could she be broody?

I had no idea they could go broody this young! Should I do anything or just let her be?

    Could she be broody?

I’ve got a black Australorp hen (just barely a hen at 6 months) who’s hanging out in the nesting box all day. Everyone else is out free ranging and being normal. She will come out for a drink or food then go right back in. She not purring or fluffed up but is determined to stay in the box. Comb...

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

2 eggs today!! My ladies are finally laying and I’m so excited! Any tips to keep the bedding in the nesting boxes? They keep pulling it all out and laying on the bottom of the box. Just worried I’m gonna have broken eggs.

    Guess that sex lol

Thank you! She or he has a wonderful personality and really loves being with me and my husband. The other ladies are Australorps and honestly just thinking they’re all ladies ‘cause that’s what I ordered lol I guess I could be in for a surprise there are some point.

    Guess that sex lol

Yet another guess the sex thread lol. The barred bird is who I’m wondering about. They are 5 weeks and I had assumed it was a cockerel but he’s awfully dark... any thoughts?

    What’s this?

I’m gonna keep this whole group for eggs till production starts to wane and then we will process the least productive ladies. I’m hoping I’ll have one go broody next year and can hatch some. We’ll use those chicks to replace the ones we process and also process the additional cockerels.
