➡ POULTRY FEED COMPARISION CHART (Feed brand NAMES needed)

The chick crumbs protein is 18% I see. Jones Feed Mill here in Canada has an organic chick starter with 21.4% protein. I may try that. And thank you.

    Why ferment feed?

I just read by Gail Damerow that chickens love whey! Just don’t spoil them by giving them too much and making them fat lol

    Why ferment feed?

You have a point about nutrition being lower in sale items....never thought of that. I’m finding it difficult to obtain nutritional values in the feeds. One store keeps stuff in their warehouse so that you can’t read the labels. And try to get organic feeds to compare one to another and I...

Electric fencing, do you really need it vs non electric fencing

Thanks.......I will tell my husband....when we had horses we used the white braided type wire. Would that be the same or equivalent ? I wanted the horses to be able to see it. Got plenty of it left over.

Electric fencing, do you really need it vs non electric fencing

Hello....what is E wire? Electric? I have plenty of T posts. I wanted to do rotating paddocks for my flock. Either permanent enclosures or portable.....could you explain further as I’m new. Thxs...Diane

    Panic doors? Advice wanted!

Hi there......what I mean is when you let them out of their run you can still have them in the electrical fence area. I used to rotate my horses thru different paddocks so that theyd have lots of fresh grass to eat. So this way you can rotate the chickens too. I don’t have mine yet but this is...

    Panic doors? Advice wanted!

Don’t do it😖 coyotes went thru and got about a dozen of my neighbours hens. They’re penned up now and he lets them loose when he’s around. How about an electric fence. They're about 164'x48"s high. put it outside an enclosed run for when you are home to let Them loose. Safer option.

    Why ferment feed?

Actually the thought that entered my mind is....is the feed really going bad as it smells "sour", to me that means going bad? What do you think?

    Fermented chick starter

Yes....last years Natural Dog conference had a speaker that recommended feeding your dog dirt to help with allergies.....I was going to go to one of my fields that appears to have good soil and try it on my one shepherd that is always itchy.

    Fermented chick starter

They do the exact same thing with dog food kibble! Having 4 dogs I read and compare labels. For dog food they get approval for one recipe and then just change what they call it on the bag to suit the purchaser. They may tweak it by putting in more glucosamine/chondroitin for the older dog but in...

    Why ferment feed?

So my book Backyard Chickens...A practical Handbook says....add water, a little apple cider vinegar and around 1/4 tsp yeast and let sit 3-4 days. Says only experienced chicken raisers should attempt this lol....leaves me out. I wonder how it would taste if I add my husbands beer yeast 😉

    Why ferment feed?

So Perris....I haven’t read the whole article yet but it mentions what I thought....like beer fermentation and wine fermentation you make the addition of yeast....to start the fermentation process and it will work off of the sugars in the ie..grapes...more sugar more fermentation but in this...

    Why ferment feed?

Ya....I’ll have 15 chickens only. Think I’ll stick with possibly organic feed with probiotics and feed fresh treats too. I have 4 dogs and 5 cats that I baby.....that’s enuf lol that being said I am planning on planting a garden that caters to the chickens and dogs....kale, watermelon, squash...
