    Khaki Campbells & Friend...

Thank you :D! The chickens, LOL!!! I've never seen them on it. My boyfriend said he has, but I think they need a branch swing so they can hold onto it.

    Khaki Campbells & Friend...

Thanks for the tip. I'll check them later. As mentioned above, that isn't where they spend most of the time. I would love to put some kind of grass seed in there and make it a lot nicer. I inherited the coop when I bought the house in August. I did try to put some special grass seed in there...

    Khaki Campbells & Friend...

What's bumblefoot? Edit below: I just looked it up. That doesn't look very nice. They aren't in the coop area during the day (I do have an actual coop. That's just the fenced in outside area). I let them roam the yard and swim in the brook behind my home. I have just under an acre of land so...

    Khaki Campbells & Friend...

I've read how to sex the ducks, I just never did it. Hoping their coloring may be the tell tale sign at this point? There is no tail feather curling yet, but not sure what age that happens at.

    Khaki Campbells & Friend...

Hello! Its been a while since I've posted. I added 3 Black Jersey Giant pullets, 2 white Legged Pullets, 3 Khaki Campbell's and one unknown little black duck to my flock. I'm hoping for at least one male with my ducks. Can anyone help? Also, are there any guesses as to what this lil' black...

Length of time to build a clutch?

She has been sitting on them. At least, she was. I like the idea of writing dates. Would you use a sharpie?

Length of time to build a clutch?

This is what they all looked like. I'm assuming it will be obvious when there's an embryo? Would you see veins at this point, also?

Length of time to build a clutch?

Should I be seeing life-signs after 4 days? The Tractor Supply guy said I may.

Length of time to build a clutch?

Hello, I was searching for something and found an article claiming it can take a broody up to two weeks to build up her clutch. Is this so? I had 12 eggs out there, none showing any life-signs and brought half of them in. (Some had been there since last Thursday.) I'm thinking my impatience...

    11th Annual Easter Hatch a Long 2020

If they are cold when you touch them, is there any chance they may still become babies? I got an egg candle yesterday. The guy said you could tell if one is fertile in about 4 days.

    11th Annual Easter Hatch a Long 2020

Thanks! I'm curious- if you physically move eggs into one nesting bed from another, will the broody abandon sitting on them? I found the eggs I wanted to try and hatch from Wednesday unattended Thursday morning (I had combined the eggs from two into one bed) and very cold. I didn't think they...

    New Chicken Mom!

I honestly thought so, but not knowing really ANYTHING about these lil' critters, I took a chance on looking silly and asked :lau

    11th Annual Easter Hatch a Long 2020

This sounds exciting! I'm going to leave today's eggs in the coop in hopes of some chicks (this is my first time as a chicken mom doing this 🙃), but come the 21st, I'd LOVE to participate in this hatch-a-long! 🐣

Thank you! I just LOVE the "egg machine" reference 😊.

    What on earth...??

Thank you for the help! I'll also be sure to up the calcium.

    What on earth...??

Maybe. I thought they had all started already, but some of the eggs were a little elongated yesterday and today.

    What on earth...??

Yes, they had a bowl full not long ago. I'll have to dump the eggshells I have crushed up in the coop tomorrow.

    What on earth...??

5 of the 7 hens I have were gifted as chicks in very early October. I just went from Dumor pellets to Blue Bonnet Nature's Balance Egg Booster crumbles.
