A couple still look intact but most I believe we're pulled completely out. I have rehomed the suspected aggressors. I have her and 2 other silkies. We have a very small flock. Only 5 hens as of now.
My poor silkie hen got her beautiful crest pecked till she was bald. I suspect pecking atleast. This happened maybe 6 weeks ago and the feathers still haven't grown back. I have been putting rooster booster pick no more on her just to keep her from being pecked to give them a chance to grow but...
This is my first time hatching chicks and I have no clue what strawberry is or gender. "It" has began to Crow but I read that if there are no roosters a dominant hen can take on the role. It hatched March 22
So I am preparing for my second round of incubating and all my thermometers and hygrometers are way off. I have calibrated all of them but they are all different in my forced air incubator. Like way different. So I am wondering what thermometers and hygrometers all you Hatcher's out there use...
I am incubating shipped peahen eggs for the first time today and I am wondering if I should use the automatic turning tray. I've read that it's sometimes a better idea to hand turn these eggs.
Hi everyone! Wanted to update you all. 2 have hatched so far today. I don't see any external pipping yet on the others but at least they have a buddy out while in the incubator stumbling around and climbing the other eggs.
