If that is the cause (which I think it is) is there something I can do for her?

    Soft shelled eggs

After nearly a month my 18 month old pullet is still laying soft-shelled eggs. I am giving her egg-shell in scrambled egg which she eats everyday, cutting down on scraps -but in vain. The thing is that the other five pullets do not have this problem although they eat the same feed. I guess I...

    Soft shelled eggs

They get out of the coop at 6.30am and return to sleep at 5.00pm when the sun is setting. I will try out your suggestion of cutting down on scraps and fill up their food container. Hope they won't put too much weight. Thanks again.

    Soft shelled eggs

It's autumn and the temperature is still quite mild - around 20 degrees celsius. Malta is an island situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Has anyone tried feeding the hens fermented feed? Thanks for your replies.

    Soft shelled eggs

Thanks for your reply - I will try to handfeed but neither of the hens seem interested in the crushed shells. I am afraid there is more to it. The five other hens do not have this problem and they eat the same diet. Thanks again

    Soft shelled eggs

My 18 months old chicken is laying soft shelled eggs. It is the third day in a row although these last weeks I was noticing that the egg shell was becoming quite thin. She and the other hens seem healthy. I give them one cup layer feed each daily and kitchen scraps like banana, apple, potato...

    My chicken has been attacked

How can one tell if she has a broken leg or a sprained leg? She has no bones sticking out. It seems she is not walking on the back toe. I have only three chickens and so I kept her with the other two.

    My chicken has been attacked

Hello! It has been four weeks since the attack. My chicken's wounds have healed and she eats well and is much much better. But unfortunately she is still limping. There doesn't seem to be any injury to the leg but she still hobbles and lifts her leg. I am very concerned about her limp. She...

    My chicken has been attacked

I think she was attacked yesterday morning. I could not find her and she returned just before her bedtime. She stayed in her laying box most of the day although she came out of the coop in the afternoon. She usually lays her egg daily without any problems. This morning I found the shell-less egg...
