Today noticed a crack in my pullets beak. Not sure what happened. This is my first flock so looking for confirmation on treatment.
This repair seems like what mine needs. Patch with superglue.

Thanks in advance!
Hysop,
I think it is supply and demand. With hatcheries sold out the prices keep rising. In my case I paid $3.95 for RIR day old pullets. I wanted layers but did want more of a heritage look even though I was never going to show them. All have bent combs which isn’t a breed standard. In hind...
Thanks! Not showing him just curious because all the pictures of RIR seemed to be really straight. He was one of my 6 pullets from the feed store so unexpected.
I never heard about summer comb. Since I am in Georgia and it is already HOT he will likely end up with a rather large comb...
Hello! First time raising chickens. I have a 8 week old RIR. Comb looks crooked. Will it grow out straight or should I expect is to lean to the side? My husband is laughing at me for even asking this btw!! Had to catch him taking a dirt bath to get a decent picture.
Thanks! I will try doing that. I am a firm believer that animals have their own personalities they don’t follow a mold. I agree pit bulls are smart and very loving.
Thanks! We ordered back in March and was fortunate to get it before it sold out. This is my first time being a chicken lady and my dog is 6 years old. He hasn’t figured out if they are food or not. He is always licking his lips around them!
Update: I got 6 RIR pullet chicks April16th. After crazy weather, waiting on some cleaning of trees, finally got the coop in good enough order to move in the chicks. Turns out I have 5 pullets and a Roo. They grew fast!
Was hard to leave them last night but happy to have them out of the house!
Super excited...I was on a waitlist for Rhode Island Red chicks from Turner’s Feed in Douglasville and they called this morning to say I will get six that I requested!! Picking up on April 16th.
Now for building a brooder box and getting all the supplies.
We have the supplies to build the...
Did you end up leaving pine straw and pine cones in the run? I am still trying to determine the best materials in the coop and run before I get started in this hot/humid climate in Georgia.
No mandate yet. Our county had the first positive case overnight. My family is following the stay at home policy. Was considering getting building supplies for the coop for when the mandate happens we have a project.
