It's currently dark so....photos later. I also have an 8x10 run and a 10x12 run with perches and an old dog cage they sleep on top of and also an old dresser with a roof over it the birds will sleep in. They lay in the tiny coop. I have 11 birds.
I have a coop similar to the attached pic....arrow points to where it opens for eggs, it opens from a latch at the top flipping down if that makes sense.
My ladies and roo are snacking on eggs. They aren't deterred by fake eggs. I tried a roll away plastic tray and they fussed and continually...
My leghorns are 3 years old as are my Easter Eggers, Austrolorps, Wyandotte. I have an orpington and a barred rock age 2. I know they lay less in winter, but it seems extreme this time around. Only my leghorns are laying, of 4 leghorns I get an egg every other day, and no other eggs from my...
What can I add to the dirt floor of the run/coop to keep down on stench especially when it gets muddy? Pellets? Sand? It's hard to clean out some parts of the coop and luckily last year was hot and dry so I kinda just let the coop floor....just be and the dry heat kept down on the smell.
I want to get a roll away egg thing so that my ladies are less apt to eat their eggs, plus the eggs will be cleaner and less likely to get stepped on. My coop is similar to the one pictured, and the roll aways I've seen all seem to open in front of the nest instead of behind as I'd need, and...
I was not feeling well for a few days, then we were a super busy and we also left on vacation and some time during all that, I noticed my hens were broody with some eggs, so I marked them and let them be broody with those 6 eggs. Well dummy me didn't mark a date on the eggs or even a guess of a...
Wait let me try that again. The photo with the yellow dresser and chickens is taken from the nw corner and the next one of the whole coop and run taken from the w. That dresser is loved by them. And then you can see my too small for all birds coop too.
Anyway I am discussing with my family as well so we can come up with a solution. All birds were alive this am. I gave them warm oats. It's 17°f but very windy so I might also add more wind protection from the north
I was thinking of adding wood like a lean to....? I can get pallets but they're not solid they have huge gaps so I guess I add some fence slats or...? Metal? Plastic? I don't have a saw and don't know where to get wood cut unless I purchase it new and buy it where they cut it, well over an hour...

I have a small coop plus a dresser but they go on top of the dresser instead of in. And the coop doest fit all my birds.
I need an easy, cheap er coop idea. It's 24 and windy and my existing coop isn't big enough for all, or, I've got creatures of habit who only want to roost on top of a dresser. I have 11 birds and I am attaching a badly drawn picture to explain things. I want to build something tomorrow but I am...
How do I break her? We do have a roo (well, cockerel, nearly a roo) but my kids would wanna keep the chicks and 13 birds already is plenty :) but she would make a great mom lol.
My dear Orpington, Pepper, has been very broody the past two weeks. I also notice she only goes out and about when I pull her off the eggs, and then she just goes straight the dirt bath. I also noticed her face looks kinda like she has a five o click shadow and now I'm not sure if she always was...
We have had so much rain recently our ground is saturated if the sky isn't. they're nearly full feathered but not quite. This weekend they hopefully can at least be outside for a bit while I scour their brooder clean.
