    Looking for Cornish Game Chickens

I'm looking for a connection for well-bred (not hatchery quality) Cornish Game chickens. Either hatching eggs or chicks. Anyone have a direction to point me in? Please and thank you!

    Potential blockage in nares.

This is Bernadette. She is a 4 year old Brahma hen. About 2 years ago, she had a respiratory infection that caused pus to collect in her right nare. I was able to get a large chunk of it out, but ever since then I have felt like there was more. For the past year or so, that same nare has been...

    Baby with Bulging Eye?

I have a three day old turkey poult that I hatched. Its right eye is bulging. It actually looks like the fluid behind the lens is increasing. I don't think he's eating, but his siblings are. I am concerned he might have more going on that I don't know about, which is one thing...But I'm also...

Frostbitten Toe Healed Over but Still Hurting

Overall her leg and foot seem fine. I did a more in-depth look over on her feet yesterday and they all look fine...a couple ingrown feathers that I popped out. The other toe tip that came off from the same bout of frostbite is picture perfect. I think you're right about it needing to toughen...

Frostbitten Toe Healed Over but Still Hurting

Thank you! She mosies around a fair amount. The past couple of days I've diapered her and brought her downstairs to hang out with us. I think she likes that better instead of being in a big guest room by herself. Even though she did have "tunes" playing all day and a mirror to look at herself in...

Frostbitten Toe Healed Over but Still Hurting

That's the problem, this toe did not seal off properly at all. The toe nail got caught on something and pulled the whole tip mostly off and it was hanging on by a little piece of I don't know what exactly. My vet wanted to put her under anesthesia and amputate the toe at the joint above. But I...

Frostbitten Toe Healed Over but Still Hurting

Originally it was like this image, but the last week or so it was just the tip of the toe with wrapping on it. I would change it every other day.

Frostbitten Toe Healed Over but Still Hurting

So I DID have it wrapped constantly before (gently) with gauze for padding and it seemed like that made the limp worse actually. Today is the first day I've left it completely unwrapped and the limp seems better.

Frostbitten Toe Healed Over but Still Hurting

I have a Brahma hen who got frostbite on her toes this past December (2022). I have had her in my guest room since then while she's been healing. Amazingly, only 2 of her toe tips have come off and the rest are fine. One of the toes has healed up with no issue, but the other one was a little...

Hen is missing a LOT of feathers but didn't molt. Can I do anything?

I wanted to update this post. She exploded in new pin feathers EVERYWHERE about 2 weeks ago. I had put her in the barn with a few other "nekkid" ladies because the temps were supposed to get very very low. I think the lower light and extra protein (I was giving them scrambled eggs every day) did...

Hen is missing a LOT of feathers but didn't molt. Can I do anything?

I don't know her exact age, no. I was told she molted in spring, which was before the current damage to her feathers occurred. So I suppose that would make sense as to why she did not molt this fall. In my original post I believe I mentioned I did not see any evidence of mites. I haven't seen...

Hen is missing a LOT of feathers but didn't molt. Can I do anything?

She's only recently come inside, otherwise she was in the natural daylight. I do put her to bed early though, lol. Thanks for the tip! I had also heard that the redness could just be from sun exposure since she's missing so many feathers. I'm definitely less concerned about that than I am about...

Hen is missing a LOT of feathers but didn't molt. Can I do anything?

I received a Lavender Orpington hen late this summer from an acquaintance of mine. She had warned me the hen was not in the best feather shape because the rooster she had been with was quite overzealous. Ok...I have saddles, feathers grow back...etc. Well, it's now winter in Wisconsin and this...

    Is it blackhead??? (With pics)

I have a hen going through what sounds VERY similar to what you are describing in this post. I was suspecting blackhead and then came across this post, so I'm wondering if you ever found a solution and what ended up happening. I hope you were able to save them, but I am very sorry if you were...

Incessant Diarrhea in a Silkie Hen

I want to follow up here in case someone else finds this thread. I ended up getting a fecal float done at a nearby vet clinic. The vet said she saw a small amount of Cocci, but wasn't convinced it was the only thing going on with Sasha (the silkie). She advised I give a Sulfa antibiotic along...

Incessant Diarrhea in a Silkie Hen

Yes her behavior seems normal, but here's the thing...I purchased her from a breeder earlier this summer so I'm not sure what "normal" should be. She's always been docile and low-energy. When out in the yard, she explores, gets around and scratches in the grass with everyone else so I THINK...

Incessant Diarrhea in a Silkie Hen

Hello chicken folk. I need your brains. Patient: Silkie hen (pure bred if that matters). Unsure as to her age, but likely a couple of years old. Currently laying eggs. Symptoms: Stinky sulphuric diarrhea. Drinking about 1L of water per 24 hours. Eating well. Gets around well. Seemingly no...
