    I felt the same way. I had never built anything larger than a dog house. I credit some very good framing videos on YouTube with the success in building our coop.

    I just finished building a coop for my wife. I did decide to go with the t1-11 siding. I sealed it with two good coats of Barn Red paint and trimmed with barn white.     We have a good well drained area for the coop. I would like to do the composting as well. I have alot to learn. My wife has done most of the reading and studying. I just want to make sure that I build something that is aesthetically pleasing yet practical for us.

    Quick question. I am looking to build my wife a coop for her chickens, and I see that most of the designs I have seen have a floor. Is there a general rule as to whether or not to have a floor or just the ground?

    New Chicken Husband

    My wife has recently purchased 5 hens and a rooster. I joined the group because I will be needing to build a coop for what I am sure will outgrow the "store bought" coop pretty soon. I forsee her adding to her flock. I am looking at plans and recommendations for cops that house 15-20 chickens.
